My parents have an old (12+ years) cockatiel who has eye issues. It seems as though the inner part of his eye socket is slightly "puffy" (the part that actually holds the eye inside the socket). He's had this problem for a few years, and he tends to stick his whole head in his food bowl when he eats. I'm constantly cleaning food out from around his eyes. He can see just fine and seems to be in no pain, but I was wondering if his puffy eyes are a symptom of his eating habits, or does this sort of thing happen often in older birds?

I have a bichon who is overweight, she was having a problem going up the stairs and always needed help with the first step, shes 10 years old and i thought it was because of her age that she was having troubles, but recently we've started cutting back her food and only feeding her twice a day and she seems to be doing a lot better with the stairs now but is still really chunky. How much food am I supposed to feed her per day? i've heard that they should be fed twice a day but dont how how much at a time, and also she only eats when she feels like it, how do I get her in a routine?

I have only one male betta and I want a fish to suck the crap that the betta leaves behind. I've never done this before and don't know if my betta will kill it or if he'll tolerate it.

What steps can you take to make sure the kitten won't have any abnormal health issues?

including both physical and mental issues.

Also, do you think judging a parent is a pretty good indicator?

What training do you suggest so the cat won't be nervous and shy all the time.

thanks alot

This morning at 1am my dog started making this horrible noise, honestly she sounds like a duck...the noise is followed by a slight gag. could this be a cough? She acts normal other than the noise and there is nothing in her throat that I can see.

I have a tabby cat that is 2 years old and is from about 12 to 14lbs. She does not over eat and runs around alot I guess. I mean she is not hyper but she gets up and does stuff. She does like to sleep and relax though. I am just not sure if my kitty is fat and if I need to get her more active.

I have a mini doxie pup that has been blind since birth. I thought that we had a home lined up for him, but it has fallen through. I don't have the time or finances to invest in his care. I've tried to surrender him to a no-kill shelter, but they refused him on the basis of his being blind. I've also placed ads online and in the paper, but have had no responses.

He is a great little dog and I'm fearful that if I drop him off at the local animal shelter for adoption, he will be put down as it is there policy.

I'm not sure if he hurt himself running up and down the stairs, or playing outside. But it seems to be his hind legs or lower back that hurts. He's not getting up to eat or drink. What can I do until I can get him to a Vet?

dec 13th,my dog got his back legs cought while jumping, and fell over on his back,it was very pianfull.i took him to the vet, and i was told that there was less than a 5% chance of him walking again cuz he had no sensation in those legs.i was given 3 choices, consider a wheelchair for dogs or keep him on stiroids and confined for a week, and after the week if he wasnt feeling any better my other choice was to let em put him to sleep.however, after the week,he still looked the same but putting him to sleep was the last thing on my mind,he was doin so bad that he couldnt move on his own he was swolen around the stomach area.its been almost a month and i am glad to say the he is doin much better,i massage him alot, the mussels on his legs are growing back, he's now streaching his leg and his body is goin back to its normal size,he's eating good n back to being hyper.he seems to be stiff and still not walking but is crawling.is it safe to let him crawl?is it a good sign that hell walk again?

We need a muzzle for taking our bulldog to the vet. He has a skin condition left over from his previous owner & is at the vet several times a year. He gets snippy when they have to clean his ears, ect.
