Pets - 5 January 2007

So I have a 3 year old female Siberian Husky that has had a difficult time adjusting to recent moves. Previously, we lived on an acre of land with two other dogs (lab mixes). I'm now living in the city with a tiny yard (big house though) and my roommate has a 6 year old beagle. The beagle won't really play with the husky and she is really quite sad and depressed. She won't go out in to the yard much either, but when she lived in our old house, she'd go out for hours. So I am thinking of getting another dog (we won't be in the city for more than a year) and need help chosing it. I don't really want a super high energy dog, but I do want one that will play with the husky. Everytime I take her to a playdate with other dogs, she becomes the dog she used to be. I plan on getting a rescue/shelter dog and it can be older as well. I am not home a whole lot so it would also be good to be a breed that is not needy, so to speak. Suggestions?

i have a 6 month old puppy who at the most gets left for 6 hours, but i worry about him all day to the point i feel sick, i leave a radio on and toys and treats we were given him to look after casue his previous owner can no longer look after him. is he okay

i had sharks in my tank a couple of years ago and i know they are kinda aggressive so im askin if they would go well with my tetras,have 12 neons and 5 glowlights.
i had a tank with 5 rainbows and a rtbshark and i think they went well together,i gave them away cause my dad told me to give them away cause hell use my tank for a flower fish or somethin.
i know sharks are not hard to take care of but would they go well with tetras?

if you think i should not have any more fish,then when is the right time? when i only have 10 tetras? 12? 8? what?

I would never offer tap water to my wife or child. We live in FL but both come from the northeast where the water is a bit "lighter". The tap water here (and there) tastes really horrible and cannot be very good for our bodies to drink. That being said, would our cats benefit from exclusively using bottled water instead of tap water from now on?? Thanks for the info and have a great new years!

Just been and bought a thermometer from the vets to check dogs temp but she wont let me any where near her back end am i doing something wrong!
My dad said it should go up her vagina but im sure it should go up her anus as this is what i recall the vet saying
I also took her for walk today and she had several small wee,s with clear mucus hanging from vagina do you think the labour is progressing?she was also sick twice at 11 am today and no eating

Thank you for your time! I am finally getting my dream puppy (Shetland Sheep Dog) I have been planning to name him (yes, I am gettiing a boy) George. I have wanted this dog for 10 years and the time is finally right and for 10 years, his name has been George. NOW my husband says "you should really wait till the thing develops a personality before you name him." BLAH. ive had him since wednesday the 3rd and he has plenty of things in his cage to keep him amused but he sits in the same spot during the day, on the bottom of the cage, and does not move unless he gets scared when u walk by. im worried that he might be getting depressed. is it normal for him to be doing this? he hasnt touched his toys or his treat or the ladder or swing. any ideas as to why?

I have a 5 month old house cat, last night I noticed that there was puss coming out of one of his eyes which he was cleaning away himself however his eye is still pretty swollen. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? He's also been sneezing quite often so wasn't sure if it was the cold of some sort!

The Vet test for maing, but it was negative. We have tried everthing I can think of for high dollar dog foods and special shampoos. They are on K9 advanticks for pest control.

We have a 3 yo Cocker Spaniel who we bought privately when she was 9 wks. My daughter had been terrified of dogs, so we bought a smallish one from puppy to help overcome her fear. But at 9 wks we took the dog (Ebony) to show n tell at school. It snapped at one of the children. We have 7 children and constantly have children coming and going. While Ebony is great with our children and us, any strangers, especially young children she can bark vigorously at. She can go up to them, be all nice, then all of a sudden can turn and bite with a very angry growl. She has done this to about 3 or 4 visitors, all unprevoked. We were going to take her to the RSPCA & kids were upset so we had her desexed hoping this will help. B4,she has stayed at a boarding kennel twice, when we've been away & they thought she was a beautiful dog! So are we doing something wrong I thought. But I still feel nervous when we have visitors, especially kids, so she goes in the laundry, which is unfair. Undecided
