He should have already had them by now, so get started ASAP!

You need to get the shots done to protect it from diseases (Just like human vaccinations!) - It's a series of 3 shots, with the final including it's rabies shot.

He can also be neutered at 6 months.

Whoever told you you didn't need to have them done is dead wrong!

Each vet will have their own schedule for vaccinations. It is usually a series of 3 vaccinations and a rabies shot. My vet recommends shots at 7, 10, and 13 weeks, and the rabies and neutering at 16 weeks.

Make sure that you stick to the full regimen of shots so that your pup will be fully vaccinated against communicable diseases.

Wow! Your pup should have gotten shots long ago! But, it's not too late. Go to the vet and start the shots.

Your dog still need to be vaccinated against these illnesses or it can catch them and become very sick!

At five months your dog should have the first two doses of Distemper Vaccine. As well as a Rabies Vaccine.

Another Vaccine is the Bordetella Vaccine also known as the Kennel Cough Vaccine is an option vaccine if your dog is going to be boarded anytime throughout their lifetime. I get this vaccine regardless if my dog is going to be boarded because I feel it protect her against other dogs who might carry this.

Your dog should also have a regular check up by the vet @ this age. I know my vet when I first brought her in provided me with a "Puppy Care Package" that provided me with info about vaccines, a little binder full of info about training, house breaking, teething, and so on. It was very helpful.

it is never too late to take your dog to the vet, but sooner is better than later. there are diseases out there that can greatly effect your dog's health, some even are fatal. there are a series of 3 booster shots that your vet will recommend to give the dog. each one will be 2 to 3 weeks apart, and the dog should also be wormed at the same time. they can also die from worm infestations.if you love your pet, take him ASAP. it will save you money in the longrun.

your poor pup it probably needs to be dewormed too

my guess is the person you got it from told you this as a way to cover for the fact that they didint give the pup any shots -

your pup SHOULD have had shots and deworming BEFORE you even got it... you should also look to make an appointment for neutering

if you cannot afford proper pet care you should get a pet..

some places have laws saying that your pet requires a rabies vaccine and you can be fined if you dont get it done

You should most definitely get him his shots. They should have been done like this:
8 weeks old - distemper vaccine
12 weeks old - distemper vaccine
16 weeks old - distemper vaccine and rabies vaccine

The reason we vaccinate puppies is to prevent them from getting illnesses that are difficult to treat and could potentially kill your dog. Please take him to your vet and get him updated on his shots. It's not too late.
