i only want to know what is a good friendly dogs and is loyal i also know both dogs are the same but what is still better in your oppinion..thanku who ever anwsers my question.

I would say a Goldern Retriever only because I own a Labrador and he is as sweet as can be but he is also extremly playful and hyper. He is now over one year old and still acts very happy and always wants you to play with him. I love to play with him, but I work full-time, so he gets left alone for a few hours a day when my boyfriend is at school, he gets sad. Also he has been trained with professionals to be a bird dog, and trained at Petsmart, but still he takes many hours of practice and care to learn. He excite pees alot, even though he is neutured. I've heard that Labs are the most hyper dogs until they are about three years old. I only suggest a Golden retriever because maybe sometimes it would be nice to just hug or pet your dog instead of him wrestling you! My dog never lets me hug him.. I saw that Maria S posted that Golden Retrievers are more active, but its far from true!! Best of luck with your new family member!

The Golden retriever is a kind of Labrador. The name "Retriever" comes from the job that is meant to be done by this kind of dogs. They just were used to retrieve the hunting animals after their owner shooted them or tracked them down. I think that Labradors are the most beautiful dogs that exist and also very smart emotional and loyal. But the Golden Retriever is something exceptional even more beautiful than the shorted-hair Labradors. IF i were you i would definately get a Golden Retriever! It really worths your love and careness...

Hi! Both dogs are great even if I never had a golden retriever. I have a Choc lab that is 12 years old and you can never hear enough about them. He is the friendliest friend I have ever had. They do shed even with the short hair and it is all year long and they do need brushed a lot. If you have the time for excercise them they are both active breeds.My lab gets along with my other two dogs very well. I have a Papillon and a Lhasa Apso. My Pudge has developed cysts on his body and they have a tendency for their hind legs to go bad. My Pudge has a problem right now so it would be best to investigate the parents of whichever breed you get to make sure it doesn't run in the family line first. good luck on your choice.

This is like asking which is better, a New York Strip or a Rib-eye.
The Golden's make a little better inside dog than the Lab...based on owning a couple of Labs and talking to people about the Golden's. I'm 59, and I've never seen a bad Lab or Golden...both are great with kids and very loyal. Good luck with either!

Both are GRRREAT! It all depends on the kind of family you have. If you have children, the Lab will be better. Not that the golden retriever is cranky with children or anything like that. The problem with the retriever is, the breed tends to be a little more active than labs and, with a retriever an several small children in the house.... chances are you will go bananas long before the dog ceases to behave like a puppy.

I had a Golden that had spent the first year of his life being neglected and abused, most dogs would have to be put down because their attitude would be dangerous and unpredictable; however, My Retriever was loving and loyal to us from the get go. He was nervous around new people, but in no way dangerous. It usually took him about ten minutes and then he would crave the attention of the newcomer. In my experience, there are few breeds better for temperment overall than Golden Retrievers.

I have labs (2 of them). We are a lab family. They are a great dog. I would give up my husband before I would give up my dogs (JUST KIDDING). They are basically from the same back ground and have the same traits. Of course a lot of the dog depends on the owner. The only real difference I can tell is Goldens seem to shed less. My sister had a golden/mutt mix. I love my labs, but they shed year round. Labs and Goldens are "working" dogs. If you do not work them they will tear stuff up.

I've never had a Golden but my Choc Lab is a wonderful dog. He is loyal (follows me everywhere I go in the house), friendly and very smart. One benefit I can see to a Lab over a Golden is that the Lab's coat is probably shorty and more wiry so less of a hair problem if you have them in the house. I wouldn't trade my Lab for anything in the world.

Labs are a little thicker headed ( stubborn) than goldens. The coat on a golden is something you have to brush every day too keep it looking good. Goldens are big clowns and will clear a low table ( like a coffee table) with there tail, it never stops. I have had both but prefer the golden, very loyal and wont to please so badly.

Well..... even though this isn't the answer you want..... this depends on your personality. Both dogs are GREAT dogs. They are simaliar in personality and physical features. Golden retrievers are probably better dogs though. And keep in mind I am only saying this because I have lived with more goldens than labs.
