My best friend had the same problem with her 2 dogs - She moved from Lake Tahoe to San Francisco and could not get the dogs to go while on a leash. They finally got the hang of it, but it took a couple of months.

Try a long retractable leash to give the dog a sense of freedom

Hi,

I suggest you make the dog drink water an hour before taking it out. Then walk the dog every hour on the hour for a couple of days. When the dog pee's praise it and give it cheese ect.

All the best.

how old and was he house trained before??

ok excercise stimulates the bowels so do lots of that.. not just walking.. he needs good run... you can buy a housebreaking aid product - a spray that helps stimulate them to go when and where you want them to...

always have soft treat rewards and reward him INSTANTLY when he goes

remember most dogs need to poop 20 minutes after eating so this is the best time to take him for a run (they usually pee first thing in the morning BEFORE eating and again throughout the day)

find a place where other dogs have gone, take your dog on long walks, have a retractable leash. give a small dose of mineral oil could be several things.

Try a flexi lead so that he can get some distance from you and then praise when he goes.

He doesn't associate a leash with pottying.
