I need a pet to love. The problem is I can’t decide between a dog and cat and getting both is not an option. I had a bad experience that last 5 long years with a cocker spaniel. I love dogs, but I’m afraid of dogs now. He was the worst dog I ever owned. He barked ALL the time at EVERYTHING. After 4 years of pottying on command he decided he had enough of going outside to use the bathroom. At this time I learned I had diabetes and serious high blood pressure. When I came home from work I had to clean poop smashed into the bottom of his crate. Thinking this was a health issue I took him to the vet only yo find out he was in perfect health. Training classes didn’t work. I had a pit-bull who was potty trained to a litter box and she was an angel and this little dog was a demon from hell. I’m afraid of having an experience like this again. I want a dog but I can’t go through that again. I want a pet that is happy on my lap. I would enjoy it going everywhere with me, but I don’t think cats are like that. What toy dog breeds do you guys suggest or would a cat just be a better option.

Mature female spayed siamese approaches shower when it's running and looks in. Has been known to actually jump in the shower briefly. After shower is off climbs in tub and meows pleading. Sniffs around bath mat. I thought water was a problem but she has plenty of fresh by her food. I placed a cup of fresh water in tub and she ignores it mostly. Stranger yet is the fact we have well water in the shower with a stinky sulphur content we don't drink nor does she. Are they ever attracted to sulphur? Late at night when I go into the bathroom she hops in the tub and starts crying.

my apartment is 785 square feet, and I'm alergic to cats and feathers. I'm also alergic to sawdust so like, hamsters would need sometihng else... I'm horrified of spiders, and I love lizards and reptiles and puppies. but I don't have enough time to train a puppy, because I'll be starting school soon, but I do have time to a reptile, but I'd like soething that wouldn't mind being petted when i got home. I was thinking of adopting an adult dog, or getting a turtle, but are there any better ideas? thanks :)

Our mix bred dog showed to have a tumor on the liver which was detected with an ultrasound. A biopsy was performed and the vets claim it was a hepetoma (spelling ?) (growth) which needed to be removed since it would eventually cut off the blood supply to the liver. The biopsy results showed no cancer, however when the tumor was removed another biopsy was performed...is this standard? Plus the post surgical results said carcinoma on the exit sheet (before the second biopsy results were in). The vets won't tell us anything until next week.....because of the holidays even while the results are sitting in the vet's office....any ideas, is this biopsy just the confirm the results of the first? Why so many biopsies? Aren't these tests conclusive w/o having to stick the dog twice? Thanks

My 10 month old male yorkie has a scratch on his nose that he got from trying to dig under the door of my bathroom while I am away. It bleeds and he wipes it all over the floor. I dont want it to get infected any ideas of something that I can put on it? Also any ideas on how to keep him occupied while I am at work so he does not try to dig out and hurt himself again?

My little brother and I are getting a new kitten, which will be our only pet, in a few days. The problem is that my mom says that although she will feed it and give it water and all, she will most definitely not play with it or keep it company. The thing is that me and my brother will be at school and I'm wondering if the kitten will be lonely. We live in an apartment (no yard or terrace; it's a high rise building) but we have lots of kitty toys.

Will the kitten be too lonely without company while we are at school?

I don't think getting two is an option, my parents aren't huge cat people and have agreed after much persuading.

Help? :)

My friend bought my son a beta fish and I thought it would be nice to get the fish a friend. So I bought another beta fish and they wanted to kill each other. I had to buy a seperate tank for the other fish. I put the tanks next to each other, but it still seems like they want to kill each other thru the tanks. What can I do?

I found this cat when it was 6 weeks old and kept it outside for 2 years ( I live in FL). My neighbors (old hags) reported me to Animal Control and fined me $500 for having an outside cat when in my association we are not allowed to have pets kept outside. So I brought my cat to work and it's a small used car dealership, my boss loved it and for 2 years my cat has been living outside at the car dealership. Now my boss is telling me that his cars are getting scatched, he ruined things, damaged stuff, etc. So now my question is, should I take him back to where I live and tell my neighbors that this isn't my cat (since it lives outside) and it's been two years. It has no collar. I will of course feed him in the back yard. But I'm afraid my old hags of neighbors will report me, but can't prove anything, but yet have the pound take him away. There are two other cats in my neighbor hood that are outside but they live inside too, they aren't constantly outside cats. What should I do?

My dad has the flu (like every winter), and I keep my parakeet's cage in the living room, as it's the biggest room in the house. And that's where my dad spends most of his time. Now, my dad usually gets better fast, but is he a danger factor for the bird?

I just bought my puppy from a petstore this week. He's been coughing up a storm, so I took him to the vet yesterday. The vet prescribed him some antibiotics for the kennel cough. It's been a day, and his condition seems to be worsening. Today he's been extremely lethargic and sad looking. He won't eat and doesn't have much energy to do anything. He's also been having this green mucuous dripping from his nose. All of this started today/last night (after the vet visit). I'm wondering if any of you have some advice. Should I be concerned? How long do the antibiotics usually take to kick in? Thank you!

When a cat licks herself and you touch her and she is wet, are your hands dirty and do you need to wash them immediately?
Or is cat saliva generally clean?
