A Canny collar is similar to a Gentle Leader Collar but fastens at the back behind the dog's neck, so he cannot pull it off with his paws. From dogstore.co.uk and recommended by R.S.P.C.A. for really difficult dogs.

My cat generally wants to go out at night and stay in during the day. She has trained us well to let her in and out - she is great at meowing under the bedroom window at night when she wants to come in (and we are soft, so we do let her in!!). She won't stop out during the day, yet at night will go out only when it is dark and doesn't come back in until dawn. She then sleeps for most of the day.
Yet loads of people seem to think this is wrong and not safe - why?

In England we have a Dangerous Dogs Act that doesn't work. People are keeping dangerous dogs all over the place. Ask a postman.

Is the RSPCAs fault as they do not recognise or admit that dogs are dangerous animals per se. It is because lots of their members own dogs and they do not want to lose membership. The 50% plus of people who don't care for dogs should stand up to these people who own dogs who can make life a misery for other people, barking, dog ****, attacks, spoiling the environment, sheep attacks etc.

I've had cats all my life, also had fish, a rabbit, hamsters and mice when I was much younger.
I'm looking for a good indoor pet that is relatively low maintenance. There will be 2 of us living in the flat but we're both pretty busy people and can't dedicate our lives to an animal.
We were thinking of a Chameleon! but they need a bit too much care than we can give currently..
My brother has his heart set on some kind of aquarium with some ornate shrimp or something similar. Either that or another kind of Lizard.
We're open to suggestions though. As long as it's fairly low maintenance but still rewarding.

Thanks!

Bird vote.
I prefer the budgie myself. They are relatively easy to tame and they make interesting pets. I like all birds but the budgie is one of my favourites.

My kids are wanting a lizard for a pet and I am considering some options, one is a local lizard that is EVERYWHERE around my house. The other is a bearded dragon. My question is do bearded dragons have to eat live food? I am an animal lover and have steered away from reptiles for as long as my children will let me because I dont want to kill anything, even crickets. What would be a good beginner lizard? Do all lizards require live food?
