Cats are nocturnal so they should go out at night. Maybe people say not to as they can get into fights with other cats and foxes.

I don't see anything wrong with this. I let my cats come in and out. My cats seem to like to stay out during the day while I am at work. Even on the weekend whil I am home they prefer to be out during the day and in at night. My cats also have me trained.

No way do we let our two female Tabby cats out at night, bad things happen to them sooner or later, like being knocked down with a car or fighting with other cats, they sleep alot through the day but out at night is a no no.

Other critters are more likely to come out at night, so your kitty wouldn't be alone out there...
My cat was attacked by a raccoon one night when he was outside. We could hear the commotion from inside the house, and when we got him back in he had scratches on his head and left side.
But this may not be a proble for everyone.

Cats hunt at night. So, if you don't want your cat eating god knows what and picking up germs, worms & injuries, you should keep it inside. And.....night time and cars & cats don't mix! Most cat V's car accidents happen at night. In some parts of australia it's the law to keep cats in from dusk to dawn to protect native animals.

I don't know. I let my cat out at night. Maybe it's because of the predatory animals that are also out at night? My cat's 7 years old and has been going out nights for all those years and has survived, but we went through several cats that didn't. So it's a personal choice you have to make.

At night the cat will eat birds and mice, might encounter a rat or all sorts. It can get worms or horrible diseases, then you let it back into the house to sit on your bed or settee all day. Who is the master - you or the cat? Stamp your authority! It looks like she's the boss right now...

My two cats ALWAYS go out at night and they both prefer it. Also if you keep a cat in at night and have no litter box, you are bound to get woken up in the early hours to let it out.

Where I live the cats at night fight right out the front of my house and make me as mad as hell, it also starts all the dogs barking, I have heard what some of the neighbours want to do about it and yes judging by their comments its safer to keep your cat in at night.
