If you mean a plecostomas, a fish that is long and scaly, a type of catfish, and sucks on the glass, you can put him in with your freshwater fish. they like cooler temperatures but will thrive in a tank that isn't extremely cold (not a goldfish tank). A regular tropical tank will be fine, just make sure the temperatures dont go above 81 degrees Fahrenheit. Make sure that you realize that they can't live on the algae in the tank alone, unless your tank is in direct sunlight and the light is kept on appr 14 hours a day. Your best bet is to feed either algae wafers or get a clip on which you can put romaine lettuce, sweet potato, or zucchini. They are also nocturnal fish, so realize that if you don't see him much, it may not be because he is sick, just because he's sleepy. Good luck!

I'm not sure what you mean by a cold water sucker...is that the same as an algae eater (Pleco)? If so, then yes as long as your tropical fish are not saltwater fish. If not, then I'd recommend asking someone at a pet store so they can see exactly what you mean and can give you the correct advice.

No, if it is a cold water fish it will not properly thrive in a tropical temperature(70 degrees or above).

you can, but it won't thrive. It would be best to find a tropical algae eater of some sort. I suggest that you try liveaquaria.com and check their algae eater section just to get the info then head out to a reputable local fish store. try to stay away from any chain with the word pet in it if you have questions.

I dont think you can put reg fish in with salt water fish. How warm is your fish tank? What are the conditions this fish needs to survive?

I used to regulate my goldfish tank about once per week filter out and all. offered 2 trapdoor snails and in no way had to regulate the water or glass in about a month or so. in case you want any snails deliver me a message as mine are a breeding pair.
