Hi everyone out there, I've had pets for a long time and have spent alot of money on Vet's for there care. I was wondering if there is a company or company's that offer health insurance for pets? Someone once told me there was but not sure anymore. I asked my insurerer and they didn't know and looked at me like i was weird or something. I'm not going to discontinue paying for the health and well being of my furry family members but some procedures we have had to have does tend to be a little pricey.

My brother gave me a Red Eared Slider (Emo) and for four days I stored it in a 10 Gal. aquarium with a bunch of other fish (guppies, mollies, and a pleco) until I could get the 40 Gal. habitat I have for him now. In the aquarium he swam alot and ate twice in the four days he was in there. I have an extensive filtration system, air pump, water heater, basking lamp, log in the water, rocky background for the tank and beach type area to the left 1/5 of the new tank (the rest being water for Emo to swim). I put turtle pellets and lettuce on the beach and a guppy in the water (adding more if he eats). He has not eaten anything and in the ten hours a day he is in my sight for two days (I keep him in my office) I have never seen him bask in the lamp area. Also the bottom of the tank is gravel and so is the beach (Pet store recomendation, I wanted sand) is this bad for Emo? Is something wrong due to the lack of eating/ basking? Do I just turn the lamp off at night? Will he get too cold

My wife and I got a pug awhile back. I had severe reactions (sneezing, watery eyes, etc) and sadly, we had to take him back. My wife and I were very very sad and I felt a lot of guilt because it was like taking away her baby. Very difficult. I really want a dog and I realize that there are no 'actual' dogs that are fully hypoallergenic. My question is how much of a difference should I expect in my reactions to a hypoallergenic dog (such as a poodle/maltese mix) than a non-hypoallergenic dog?

I have a one yr old dog that pees on my carpet. When we first got her she peed in certain spots and now even though she gets walks and let outside she pees in the spots she had when she first came to us. We use dog pads for the times are not able take her. She especially does this after I shampoo the area she soiled. Is there anything out there that will detour her from peeing in those spots over and over? I am looking for anything that WILL work. Thanks for all your help.

I have 2 rabbits, each in their own cages, but by nature they dart around in the cage and create a mess by spreading some shavings outside of thier cage, I am looking for a good idea to stop this or make it not so much.

My 5 year old miniature schnauzer looks like a potbellied pig. SInce she was a puppy, we have kept food in her bowl, letting her eat whenever she wants. I know that you are supposed to feed dogs meals. But how much and how often should I feed her? We have tried changing her food to diet, but still she just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I have a toddler and a newborn, so I don't have much time to let her play outside. The only exercise she gets is chasing a tennis ball around the house occasionally. Is that enough exercise for a little dog? Would changing her eating habits make a difference?

I do not want to de-claw her, and have tried a squirt/spray bottle of water. She comes to the screen door and climbs up and tears holes in the material. The spray bottle works for a short time but she returns in a while to repeat.

When I adopted my cat, I didn't know she had fleas. We've now got fleas on our carpet, couch, ect....and I'm worried about it. How do you get fleas out of your furniture and carpet (I've already treated the cat).????

He is a 16 year old chow/pit bull mix. He has refused all food since Sept 16. I think he may have had a minor stroke then. He is still drinking plenty of water. He is listing to one side constantly and he holds his head at an angle. He was still very active and had a good appetite until he stumbled on Friday night.

Please if someone knows how I can help him, let me know. He is family.

We live in Michigan in Mason County. We were walking in the woods near Sippy Road when Aries ran off. We think that he went to the road and someone picked him up. I put up a lot of signs on Sippy Road, and I placed an ad in the paper with a reward. I also called up animial control. We are really heartbroken and I am posting this hoping that someone might have saw him.

We have 2 smaller dogs (pugs) and my wife has made it quite clear that she wants a labradoodle. Sh works long hours, we are trying to have kids, and I don't think we can devote the necesary time. I have brought up these points but it does not matter to her. I do all the houshold chores and I think it will all come back on me in the end. Not to mention the additional financial hardship a third dog would create. What to do?

I went over to my moms house this morning and my dog started crying when I picked her up. I then held her like a baby and noticed she was bleeding out her rear-end. I took her to the vet and the vet told my mom that her "anal gland abcessed and ruptured" so they are putting her on antibiotics but how does this happen and how can prevent we prevent it... I have had pets (dogs, horses, cats, etc) since I was little. This has never happend to any of our other animals nor to the other shih-tuz...

I am thinking of adopting a dog, and just contacted a rescue group in my area. They do a "home inspection". The woman was very vague about exactly what they inspect, she just said "we have to make sure your house is safe for a dog"and I am not comfortable with a stranger snooping thru my house. I realize these rescues are private organizatins. Does a public shelter do this also?I have had dogs before and know what is not safe for them. Do they inspect every room in the house?
