Okay, I called my dogs vet, and this is what he said. The dogs age is related to their age "and" weight. Yeah. My Labrador is 4 years old and weighs 55lbs. so in dog years, that is 34 years old. The vet also said if the dog is overweight, he or she doesn't live as long, which makes sense. When people are over weight, it usually means fat around the heart, which means they are more likely to have a heart attack in time unless they lose that fat. So obviously, this applies to dogs as well.

there was an article about that not so long ago on the front page of yahoo news...according to what i read and understood, for every one human year the dog has 7, but they dont live to be any older then 15, which means you'd be like 105....
Check this out:
Dog Years
A dog's lifespan is only a fraction of the average human's lifespan, which means that a dog ages more quickly in the same amount of time. This chart shows how a dog's age might be adjusted to compare to a human's age.

I has to do with the growth and maturity of a dog when a dog is 3-6 weeks(I'm not sure) they learn to walk it not because there fast learns than humans but because in human years they are 1-2 years old already now do you get it.

Its not real I am afraid to say and based on a myth. Although dogs age much faster relativley in first years of life in equivalent factors such as full growth, and sexual maturity. Broken down it would more follow this on an average breed
Dog 1 yr - Human 15 yrs
Dog 2 yr - Human 20yrs
then each year equivalent to 4 years

They use growth plates in the bones and sexual reproductivity to "age" the dog. The average is 7 years but it's really different at each stage of the dog's life. Personally I think it's stupid to compare the two different species... face it, dog's live to be a certain amount of years and that's it! What are we going to do next... tell me my truck is 15 human years old, lol?

The (very flawed but often repeated) theory is that every year of a dog's life is equal to seven. People like to have theories like this, but since Great Danes & Irish Wolfhounds generally die at at 6-8 years old, and Schipperkes & Toy Poodles can live to 18-24 years old, you can see how wrong this is. There is no catch-all 'age estimater' that will work.

Think it has something to do with with how a dog's body ages compared to a humans. They compare things like bones, losing eyesight hearing etc and they worked out that a dog ages 7 times faster than humans during 1 year. Dunno if this is correct but that is what I have heard!

My dog lived to grand old age of 17yrs human age so that would have made her 119 in dog years. I got her when she was 8wks old, brilliant dog she was , heartbreaking when she had to go.
