I fed him fish last night and some pork steak pieces in with his normal dog food * pedigree chum * He's never been sick before and in the last two hours he's been drinking water and no more vomit. He's a 4 year old Border Collie.

I have a 4 yo male neutered Border Collie-type dog. Occasionally, I have noticed a fairly firm, walnut sized swelling in his sheath (presumably having to do with the penis itself) at the base near where his testicles "should" be. It seems to happen when he is excited- not sexually, but running around, high energy, chasing a toy, panting heavily, etc. The rest of his penis is not visable when this happens. The lump disappears within 20 seconds or so if he calms down and lies still.

I'm pretty sure this is within the realm of "normal" but I was wondering if anyone can give me any more information about this phenomenon. He doesn't show any other abnormalities, nor any signs of illness or discomfort.

Thanks for your serious and well educated replies!

I do take him for walkies twice at night. But he wants to go out more and I just can't risk letting him out on his own and I can't be out there with him constantly... I have a life too! So, how can I get it accorss to him that twice is ENOUGH?

Am going to advertise - comments on the following would really help!

DOG WALKING
Are you at work all day? Is your life too full to fit in walking the dog? Are you disabled?

At a time to suit you and your pet, I would walk your dog. Not just around the streets but into woodland and over fields. I would also play with your pet to work its mind not just its body.

Ring me to discuss requirements.

My cat wee'd on my 100% wool rug, ive tried cleaning it with the usual stuff like soapy hot water, but the smell still remains. Is there something I can use to get rid of it without ruining my rug?

I recently got a fancy goldfish and a black moor. Their in a 10 gallon glass tank that unfortunately didnt have time to cycle. My problem is that they seemed fine at first but now the water has gotten cloudy (I think its a bacterial bloom) and they seem to just float at the top of the tank most of the time. When I say float I dont mean dead, and their not gasping for air above the surface of the water at all. I'm not able to check the chem levels as I dont have anywhere to get a test kit, but my fancy seems to have melanophore migration... which means he is healing from the lower quality pet store water, which shows me that his current water is good. Can anyone help me with why they spend so much time at the top and why its cloudy? I never seem to see them sleep, is this what they normaly do to sleep? Thanks all

Ok here's the deal: I am a mighty wizard and need to choose a familiar or "pet" as you mortals would refer to. I need something that:

-Can fly and spy the area around me
-Know some weaker spells such as invisibility
-Can act as a decoy to confuse my enemies
-Can find it's own food
-Does'nt need to **** all over the place
-OBEYOBEYOBEYTHECRAB....at least it should be relativly cooperative...

If you come up with other abilities for my familiar, fell free to post them as well....

I've been told that when light gets through our pupils in a picture, they become red because we see the blood inside...! What about cats with glowing blue eyes!!!!!!!!??????

This the first time he's done this. He usually has one bowl for wet food, one for dry. We added a new kitten 5 months ago, and they get on famously - she has the same wet/dry food bowls as he does, side by side. But we're wondering why he keeps pawing his dry food out now till it spills to the sides on the floor. Is it because of her bowl next to his?

In other parts of the world it is seem as barbaric torture! there is no excuse, no good reason, it is NOT good for the cat and the only vet that would even consider this disgusting practice is the one who is completely unethical and doing it for the money! Cruel, Cruel, Cruel!
