I asked about feeding my parakeet a saltine cracker and someone answered back "just make sure it's salt free" Is this true, and why. Thanks everyone for your help.

I have a 2 betta fish - I don't know if it matters, but the potentially crazy one is the kind with the fancy fins. The crazy one litterally spazzes out and nearly jums out of the tank when anyone goes near it, even to feed it. It's much worse right after a tank cleaning, so I've gotten so I let his water get a bit skanky before I change it, which I *know* is not optimal. Sometimes he even schitzes when no one is anywhere near.

He is obviously not in the same tank as the sane one, and it's a small tank, not one of those tiny bowls or a vase.

Is there anything I can to to calm this guy down and make him happier?

I'm looking to purchase a house cat, but I've always been a dog person, so I have no idea what to get. I want a breed that tolerates children well, doesn't shed excessively and is easily trainable. (I want to be able to train it not to walk on kitchen counters, tables, etc.) Also, do scratching posts really keep them from scratching the furniture? Do you recommend de-clawing? It seems so cruel.
Thanks for any help!

I have a question about the guy that constantly refers people to look at the AKC website about breed standards. What about colors?? How do people know from those listed standards what colors are for a breed? They leave a little bit out there when it comes to this.

I know this might sound like im exagerating but..... i just got a 3 months old pug and its only been 8 days, i can say he is about 95% house trained. The reason why i say 95% is because he only have accidents when i'm not home and he is alone. When i'm home he knows exactly where to go and does it all by himself. I have set a small corner of my balcony with newspaper and he goes to that spot every single time only when i'm home. As soon as i leave him alone then he just goes on the floor. Is he doing this because he is mad at me? Can someone please give me an explanation?

I have a Lhasa Apso/American Eskie who is 4 months old. I work a lot so she usually be left alone @ home and she keeps scratching the wall, even though I had bought a lot of chewing toys for her. I don't know if the paint can be poisonous or not and how to stop her.

I recently recieved a seven week old kitten, I have had her about a week now, when I went to pick her out she was the calmest one there, who loved to be held and petted. About two days after we brought her home she didn't want to be held at all, now she won't even let me hold her for more than 30 seconds, and she is always either hyper or sleeping, and always wants to play, so will she grow out of it? or will she always be hyper?

Whilst sitting on the wall at lunch, smoking a quick cigarette, I noticed 2 crickets!
It was quite windy, the trees were swaying (quite a bit), and my hair was all over the gaff!

how comes these crickets didn't get blown away (along with other little bugs that weigh, well, not much!)

We found a young kitten outside our home and let it come in and out of the house. Recently we've been shutting the doors and the kitten learned to climb up the screen door to get our attention to let it in. How do I retrain it not to climb/destroy our screen door?
