It sounds as though she is going into heat, and it doesn't just last for a few days...there are a few links listed for you below. If you are NOT planning on breeding her, i would really suggest having her spayed as soon as her heat cycle is over, otherwise she is more susceptible to getting cancer. ALSO, until this heat cycle is over...go to a pet store, get her some panties and pads, PLUS get some odor control/neutralizer, it is not a pleasant smell.

KEEP ALL MALE DOGS AWAY FROM HER!!!!!!

when females dogs on heat, you can see blood in her vagina. That means its your dogs breeding season is coming up. (every six months it happens) . Call it dog period if u want!

Usually, after the blood dispear; Thats the time for mating, next 3 to 5 days is the perfect time for mating. Get her a bf if u want puppies.

But according to my dogs, thier first time is around 1 yrs old. Mine dogs is large guide dogs, small dogs could be different. Not too sure about that.

really does sound like she has hit her first heat cycle. my shih tzu goes into her cycle about every ten months or so. the do indeed sell the pads and diapers at pet stores, but we just use boys underwear cut down the front, with a small hole cut in the back for her tail to stay out.....the flaps of the boys underwear are heavier than any for girls......wash them in cold water and bleach....stay pretty clean. i don't think you can have her 'fixed' if she's in heat, you'll have to wait til it's over.....in my case, like 8 to 10 days. but if you don't cover her up, you'll have blood everywhere she goes.....it's a big mess. and mine looks cute in the panties, anyway. mine has pups occasionally, but getting her fixed is a great idea if you don't want pups.....
good luck!

She's in heat. Watch for male dogs, they smell this and go nuts!!! It's normal for female dogs, just like a female human! Unless you want puppies, watch out for other male dogs!

it sounds like your little girl is becomming a woman! get her some puppy pads then keep her confined for the 7 days after she's done bleeding so she doesn't really become a woman by some roaming males...

I would suggest getting her spayed. It prevents several health and behavioral problems.

She is probably coming in heat. I would recommend keeping her away from all male dogs or get her spayed. If you plan to breed her, I would wait until she is older.

She is in heat. You need to keep her away from all male dogs for the next 3 weeks. Unless you want a lot of puppies over the next few years, please have her spayed.

She has probably come into her first heat. Keep her indoors or you will probably end up with puppies. They sell pads and whatnot's at pet supply stores to help keep the mess at bay. If you do not plan on breeding her, please consider having her spayed.
