Place a leash on the dog. When the puppy tries to jump up on a person, pull the puppy and say NO.

Repeat the process.

It normally works fine - with a lot of love and reinforcement.

One method I have seen is that if you cross your arms over your chest and look up at the sky the dog will be less likely to jump up. If the dog still jumps up then put out your knee so the dog cannot stand up against you.

By looking up at the sky you are ignoring the dog... therefore the dog realizes it will not get any attention by doing what it is doing.

It is time to teach him/her the new command, "off" or "down", which ever. I use "off" for these cases and reserve "down" for other things.

When ever he jumps up, say in a firm voice "off" as you may need to push on his chest. Repeat doing this as many times at it takes for as long as it takes. When he is not jumping up on you or has obeyed the off command, reward him with lots of praise.

He will eventually figure out what you are trying to say.

Good Luck and Take Care

I had this problem with my dog. A trainer once told me that every time he/she jumps on you, lift your knee up so it catches him in the chest. After a few times of doing this, my dog learned.

You make the consequences of his jumping on you greater than the rewards. Bump him with your knee or tap him and do it until he quits. He'll learn and one good thing about that is he'll learn he's not the boss.

A firm knee to the chest and a firm NO, DOWN, OFF, whatever the phrase, keep it consistent.

I stopped my husky from doing that by grabbing her front paws and making her walk backwards - she hated it and she stopped.

Tell him NO.... Then pop him on the nose.... Of course not enough to really hurt him just enought to get his attention and let him know who is boss
