Do you feed him wet food as well? Have you recently started feeding him Maximum? Or has he been on this food for a while. A change a in diet is a huge factor. Some types of wet food just "runs" through dogs. My Pittie eats Nutro Max and he loves it. We also feed him Nutro wet pup food too, but if we change the kind on him for example giving chicken rather than beef he will get diarrhea.
seilygirl,
Just because a dog had diarrhea does not mean he needs to go to the vet. If that were true people would be running the vet on a weekly basis. If diarrhea persists for over a week then yeah... go to the vet. We get diarrhea and don't go running to the doctor because we know it will pass, dogs are the same way.

It may be nothing because for some reason pit bulls have a tendancy to do this. One minute the stools may be hard then the next time it may be very loose. This is common in pits.
Has the dog had all its shots??????????
If the dog has had all the required shots then it probably is not parvo, has the dog been wormed lately????? worms will cause the diarrhea.
Have you fed the dog anything differant as a change can cause diarrhea. The least tiny bit of something differant can do this. Pit bulls are notorious for eating anything in site regardless of what it is, it could be possible it got ahold of something. If the diarreah persists take to the vet and get something for it as diarrhea can cause dehydration.

Well, with large breeds some vets recommend waiting until they're full grown (aka 1.5 to 2 years old) before neutering them. This is based on the fact that it can take until they're fullgrown for their growth platlets to close. Neutering them early can lead to a slightly taller dog and possible bone problems when they're older. A lot of dogs are neutered early without a problem though, and it does sometimes prevent them from starting to lift their legs. The dog you know and love is Fido without hormones (6-8 months hormones start), so preventing more hormones shouldn't change him at all. If anything it will keep him a little more goofy :) Just be sure to watch his weight once he hits a year or so, and if he starts getting a little pudgy just feed him a little less or exercise him more.

do you change his food often. if not look at the ingredients to see what is in the food. you want to stay away from any food that has this in it: beef, soy, grd corn or any corn, and any kind of wheat. try not to feed any food from a store. the best type of food to feed is ( CHICKEN SOUP, NUTRO NATURAL CHOICE, OR AVO DERM LAMB/ RICE, CHICKEN&RICE) but before you do that make sure that he is not getting anything else to eat . feeding him from the table will do it to, also make sure that there is nothing outside for him to get into. but an inexpensive food will do that and it will make him go potty(poop) more and he will eat more acting like he is still hungry. he will inhale his food like there is another dog next to him. i had the same thing happen when i got my dog and i switched to the chicken soup and never had aproblem with the diarrhea. i breed golden retrievers and this is the brand of food i feed my pups. it is easier on the stomache and it is made with all natural ingredients, and it is also not that expensive either.
the max brand food has wheat in it and that food is alittle harder for the dog to digest and they tend to eat more of it. and also you end up cleaning up after them more. with the chicken soup my dogs go poop once a day from before when they were going at least 2-3 times a day. i like this food and my dogs love it to. i would say try it and see what happens you may see a big difference in how your dog eats the food.
good luck.

Something in the food could be doing that. My dog was allergic to corn and had diarrhea. Try Purina pro plan. A bit pricey but it works great.

Parvo or worms. He could have also eaten or drank something that didn't agree with him such as milk. I would take ti th the vet asap. If you catch parvo early enough, you have a better chance of saving the dog.

Diarrhea can be serious. It could be a multiple of things. I am assuming he has had all his vaccines. So it might not be parvo (which is deadly). I would consult a vet to see if he is dehydrated.

Make sure that you stick to the regular dog food. Pick a good brand, my pooch likes Nutro. Don't feed him any snacks or people food!!

usually the dog has either eaten other animal food(cat, bird) or has ingested some outdoor plant that can cause diarrhea
