We found a young kitten outside our home and let it come in and out of the house. Recently we've been shutting the doors and the kitten learned to climb up the screen door to get our attention to let it in. How do I retrain it not to climb/destroy our screen door?

spray it with water every time you catch it climbing the screen. you've got to do it while the kitten is actually doing what you don't want it to do, otherwise it won't work.
don't let the kitten in when it climbs the screen though, then it will think that it works!
you can also try spraying the screen with a commercial product like "no!" or "shoo!" that have a scent that cats don't like...but it doesn't work for all cats.

You can buy one of those plastic shields that u put halfway up the door, or my mom has 3 cats and just uses a spray bottle with water in it to get them to stop doing things, doesnt hurt them, but they dont like it

When ever your cat jumps up on the screen, take a cup of luke warm water and throw it on the screen....it may sound cruel but it does not hurt the animal, it only gets him wet. Seeing as how cats hate getting wet, he will discontinue doing this shortly

Spray it with a squirt bottle full or water everytime it climbes the screen, it will soon get the message.

i find hanging a curtain an old one on a hook does the trick if you also hang a piece of string at the top also the cat will not climb your screen door anymore

Either rub vinegar or lemon juice on the screen. Lemon juice usually works better.

get a spray bottle and spray it with water when you catch it doing something you don't want to do. You have to spray it WHILE it is doing it. very effective tool for training cats.
