how do you know if your budgie is pregnant?she seems healthy very swollen on one side of her belly

I would advise you to seek advice from a vet. There are a couple of things which can cause this,all are very serious. Contact your vet straight. Do not delay. Egg bound,egg peritonitis, (swelling may be her preen gland), tumor.Budgies do have a high incidence towards tumors.Please,do not delay in seeing your vet.

have her checked out by your vet
If she is eating very well, she may have a swollen crop !
but a bird" in lay ",does not have a pronounced swelling in her belly.
NOTE:
a small bird ,often does not appear sick early on , but may be .
( it is instinctive behaviour , for a small bird , or rodent ,to look well as long as they can , in case they are picked off by a carnivore ,when at their weakest and easy prey)
I hope this is not the case with your budgie ,
the vet will be able to see if anything is wrong with her .

I agree with Karen S on this one, bit I don't think it's egg binding. I'm leaning toward a tumor.

Parakeets don't get pregnant, they are birds, so they lay eggs. It is possible she is egg bound, which means she has an egg stuck and can't pass it. You may want to call a vet and see what they recommend.

Are you really that stupid...is my budgie pregnant...birds lay eggs...thats right eggs...no babies no pregnancy.
Keep taking the tablets.
