Yes, there are still companies that insure pets. The best way to find information on them is to consult your veterinarian (if you have a regular vet, they'll be able to tell you at the office what plans they accept and how to contact the insurance companies, so you'll know that the insurance you get can be used at their office). Pet stores, animal shelters or the ASPCA should also have information on veterinary insurance.
And here is some information online about insurance providers:

After going through Vaccine Associated Sarcoma (cancer) with my late great Rusty and just about every illness known to cats except cancer with my late Scooter, I am a firm believer in health insurance for pets! I know people who spent fifteen thousand dollars on cancer treatment for cats, and Scooter cost me over six thousand dollars in a four month period; it would've been more if his vet hadn't kept giving us big-ticket items for free.
I'm shopping for insurance right now for my new kitty Scamper. I haven't finished making a selection, but I have a few thoughts.
One is that the biggest company pays by a fixed schedule of benefits for each service or procedure. After learning through my experience with Scooter about how much things actually cost, that schedule of benefits doesn't look at all realistic. I think I'm going to steer clear of that firm.
Another thought is that some plans cover routine care, and they reflect that in their high premiums. It seems to me that the only way a company can make a profit covering routine care is if they charge us more in premiums than they pay for the care. That doesn't sound like a good deal to me!
From the shopping I've done so far I've seen that premium costs can be kept pretty low if you take a policy that has fairly large deductibles and co-payments. That way you'd be covering the routine care and minor illness and injuries out of your pocket, but for a small premium you'd have coverage that would kick in when something really expensive comes along, like cancer. I think this might be the way to go.

You need to know how insurance companies operate. They are among the most profitable industries in the US. They base their premiums and their coverage on actuarial studies to keep themselves profitable. We have to have car and home insurance coverage in our lives, pet insurance is not something I have ever seriously considered and my cats are all older and need more veterinary attention than younger cats.
You need to investigate what the policies cover and figure if you will really be saving any money by signing up for it. Many people spend thousands of dollars when a cat needs surgery or treatment for cancer.
I personally would find out what the premiums are and start my own "cat fund". Put the monthy premium amount into a bank account or invest in a mutual fund that pays dividends monthly and put it somewhere YOU can earn the interest on it and not let the insurance providers rob you of this income.

There is Pet Insurance available...however, you would need to make sure that your vet accepts the insurance. The smartest thing I ever did for my pets was going to Banfield Pet Hospital inside of PetsMart. They offer these Wellness plans that cover all routine visits, and shots....they also can cover any spaying or neutering, and any other needed visits. The only things it doesn't cover is precriptions needed.
If you have a PetsMart in your area, I would consider their programs. I gave you the link to see if there was one near you!!!
I did send you a link for Pet Insurance as well...good luck!!!

We love our policy with Pets Best! Vet bills just keep going up and we're so grateful for the help. Our policy costs us around $35/month and we could have added routine care/wellness if we'd wanted to. I chose the lower deductible ($75), but I also could have chosen the higher deductible for a lower premium price.
Pet insurance works differently than car/human health insurance in that we get reimbursed for 80% of the expenses after the deductible, but having been in a similar situation to yours where we've shelled out hundreds/thousands in vet bills, we're glad to be covered, especially if something catastrophic happens. (God forbid.)
When researching companies, try typing in the word "review" along with the company's name and "pet insurance." It was a real eye-opener for me. Good luck!

Yes, there is health insurance available for pets, but I don't know how to find it. You won't find it through an insurance company, check with your vet's office. That's where I saw it advertised.

Yes, there are companies that offer health insurance for pets. But they don't cover routine care. Whoa, whoa, wait a minute....I just stumbled upon one that covers accidents AND routine visits. This is a first!
