My 3yr old yorkie keeps chasing my new 6 month old pup around the house. The pup is teething very badly and nips at the older dog from time to time. This is when the older dog will nip the puppy back. I understand that there is a need for the older dog to set the standard for dominance but sometimes she will chase the pup around the house and then bite him. I monitor them and step in when it seems to be getting out of hand, but I don't want to get in the way of her establishing her dominance over him (the pup). Is this normal behavior for them? Should I continue to let them be and stop them when it looks to be getting out of hand or do I just let it be b/c this is the older dogs way of letting the pup know who's boss? I really want them to get along but am having a hard time seeing how it's possible when this is constantly going on. I have the pup for a month and thought they would be pals by now. Please help!

Hey guys. Im getting a miniature puppy in a few weeks. She will be about 9/10 weeks when I bring her home. Id eventually like to have her go potty outside, but I understand it may be better to start off on paper? I will be buying a crate, and will crate her when she cant be watched. Please give me advice and step to step details on how to successfully housebreak her. Thank you!

im 15 and really want a dog. we had a mini schnauzer but it ended up living with my grandparents cause my family has some odd obession that a dog cant be alone for more than 2 hours by itsself. i go to school and get home around 230 ish. my dad works, but i would be home to take the dog out. basically everyone has the same scheduale as me and they have dogs, i know a dog can survive for 6 hours alone. we dont have a fenced in yard so i was just wondering whats the best dog for our lifestyle? i would really like a basset hound but idk if our lifestyle is good for one. of course once im home around 230 i can excersise with the dog and take it to the park, i go everyday. suggestions? thanks

the dog is about 7 months old. my little brother doesn't give her many treats, because he's only six, and i dont' feel that he has the correct judgement of 'when' to give a treat. everyday i spend time with her teaching her to sit, stay, come, stand, hug and shake. only two or three a day though, i don't want to overload and confuse her.

however, when i start, and throughout, she gets up and checks my hands for treats. i keep them in my back left pocket, and do not show when i pull them out. she doesn't seem to know they come from my pockets yet anyway. i always prefer praise over treats, hugs and whatnot, and a treat every now and then, to teach that praise is good as well. i'm the only one that she doesn't have her tail between her legs when she's around me.

i've been trying to get her to stop searching my hands for treats just because we're having a little training session. anyway to make that a little easier? other than training classes, i'd rather she learns from me

I just bought it 2 weeks ago, and this morning I noticed my cat (that's been neutered) sniffing my comforter. I put my nose to it and could smell a cat urine smell. They did it to the dust ruffle too.
My kittens are only 5 months old, aren't they too young to spray? And if not why all over my comforter?
