He will splash the water out of the bowl or knock it over after he's done taking a drink.

For the same reason my 1 1/2 year old nephew takes a drink out of a glass and then pours the rest on the floor: it's fun to make a mess. ;)
It's also rude and if you don't want to wait until he's 2 to grow out of it, you have to either punish him when he dumps it or only let him have it long enough to drink and then put it where he can't reach. Watch him when he drinks and use your "mad voice" as soon as you see him pick up his paw to spill the water and tell him "no."
Persistance is the key. Keep telling him no for as many months as it takes.
You could also get a big heavy self-waterer that he won't be able to knock over.

he is a puppy and he is curious....also playful. You cant really punish him for it, cause he is having fun.....I suggest placing a towel underneath the bowl so its harder for him to knock it over, and the towel will absorb most of the water, i know this cause i have a towel under my pets water dish too.

cause hes a puppy he'll surely get out of that just givr him/her time my dogs used 2 do that all of them did

mine will do the 2 i think its just a puppy thing and they will out grow it

sometimes my dog does it too he sometimes means he is hot or he is just playing
