I put a ring on my gerbil's head and he is getting bigger so I scared it might start to choke him but now it is to tight to get off, when I pull it on it he starts screaming, I am seriously concerned....

Soap and water or some other slippery substance that he is not going to react badly to, like olive oil, butter, or something. Just be careful not to get in his eyes and ears.

I think thats a bad idea, but now that you've done it, i guess the only thing to do is get it off. First pets do grow so putting a hard object around his neck is cruel.

I would try to be very calm with your gerbil. Take him out and hold him in ur hand and kinda pet him and make him feel very comfortable. Get some dish soap, and massage it around his neck. Get his fur nice and soapy. He is not going to like this and is going to try to get away, dont force him, because it will only stress him out more than he is now. If u can slowly twist the ring off of his neck with out yanking then your in the clear. This may take an hour, you just have to be patient.
If that doesnt work, see if you can get a cutter underneath the ring. Put the cutter at the smallest part of the ring and try to clip it. Again, your gerbil will not be too thrilled, but if u can cut a little slit, return him to his cage for an hour to calm down and then cut a little more; you can eventually get the ring off.
Finally if that does not work i suggest you seek professional help from a vet to see if they can get the ring off. But be aware that they will be asking you alot of questions, and prehaps have u reported to an animal welfare place.

You need the help of a veterinarian here. May be an expensive lesson and the ring has got to come off. The vet will know how to remove it, causing the least stress or possible injury to your pet.
