Well, here are the basics.
You need ...
a stall big enough to accommodate the size horse you're getting (10x10 works for a light horse such as a quarter horse. Drafts need larger stalls, ponies, cobs and minis can have smaller stalls.)
a fenced in paddock area in which to turn out and work your horse.
The proper tack for your discipline ( a well-fitting saddle and pad or harness and a bridle with at least on well-fitting, appropriate bit.)
A halter that fits your horse, a lead rope, and a chain for across the nose just in case
Brushes and Soaps - a rubber curry, dandy brush, soft body brush, and mane/tail comb, hoof pick, bot knife; shampoo and leather soap
2 5-gal buckets, one for grain and one for water and bucket hooks to hang them with
A sheet and a blanket to keep your new equine warm
Feed and a secure place to keep grain and a dry place to keep hay
De-wormer every 2 months
Regular vet checks and farrier visits

All of the things mentioned above and a DVD by Clinton Anderson. You can order one online. He will teach you how to handle your horse, he's excellent.
A round pen, these are pieces of a pen that are put together to make a round pen so that you can ride your new horse in a confined area so that you feel safe. Hopefully you will be taking lessons as you'll need to be taught everything about horses, and there's alot to learn! Don't treat your horse like a dog, he's bigger!

a lot of stuff....feed, buckets, holsters and ropes, saddles and tack, brushes, hoof cleaning supplies, huge run area or at least a shelter from wind and rain if kept not in a stable...a constant clean and fresh water suppy, regular care, exercise and attention, money for vet bills if horse should happen to get sick or injured...sigh...can't think of more right now...so that's probably the basics then
