First of all, please stop hitting the dog. Hitting a dog's nose can damage their sense of taste and smell. Putting hot sauce, soap or anything else that does not belong in her mouth will only make things worse. Then she will start licking EVERYTHING to get the taste out of her mouth.
Okay that being said, have you tried distracting her with something else when people come in. Or at least, try holding her back from licking them. Once the dog stops, praise her and offer a treat. Dogs, like children learn from all things constant.
Good luck.

I have no idea. Wish I could help. My Chihuahuas love to lick too, sometimes compulsively. Mine will just lick me and my hubby tho, or someone who visits often, not strangers. It isn't so bad with a little chi kiss but a big dog like a german shepherd can probably give some sloppy kisses...lol

Smacking her in the face is a horrible, horrible idea. That means one of two things, depending on your dog's personality. One, "Ooo, mommy wants to play! I'll lick her some more!" Two, "Ooo, mommy's mean!" Neither is good.
Try taking her to obedience school and teaching her to sit. Ignore her when she licks. Attention is good, any attention. Ignore her when she licks, then praise her like she just invented peanut butter when she stops. My dog is 8 weeks old and doesn't jump up to greet people because I ignore him when he does. He just sits politely because he knows that's the only way he'll get any attention at all.

Yeah ! tell your visiter's to have a bath before they come round to visit so then she want feel the need to wash them. She obviosly think's they need a wash, and is doing what come's natural to her , smacking and telling her off for something her mother tought her to do is just going to confuse her. She sound's like a lovely dog.

my Mom had a poodle w this problem what worked on her was everytime she went to lick us we would grab hold of her tounge & hold onto it for a few seconds & tell her firmly "NO LICK".....its kind of a pain in the butt to always be grabbing her wet tounge but it did work, you just hold it long enough for her to be uncomfortable w you holding it & tell her NO LICK....you have to be consistant & this should help...good luck I know how annoying this is!!
