Honestly, if your family thinks this way, you should probably not get a dog. If you really want a dog, go to the spca or other animal rescue and adopt one...you may find a purebred there...you may also look into getting an older puppy...1yr or so...that way, it CAN stay home for several hrs by itsself....get a crate big enough for it to sleep in, and crate it when you are not home.
Good luck

Well, i would suggest a boxer or maybe even a basset hound. Both of them don't need 2 much attention but luv to cuddle with their owners. Boxers are cool because they r super fun to play with at the park because they r really active.
Basset hounds are fun cuz they r sweet and will always wait to give yu that daily lick.

as u had before, a mini schnauzer, they are really good staying alone. i have one. he can stay home all of 6 hours like u said. yes their all frantic when u get home but they don't know the difference between 2hours and 2 minuets. and they can hold it a long time. a really long time. some times they run, but they will come back. i experienced it. basset hounds are aggressive some times but that's ur choice. good luck!

YOU SHOULD GET A SCHNOODLE!!!!!!! I don't know if you have ever heard of them but they are schnauzers and poodle mixes, I have a mini schnauzer and mini poodle mix (although they come in all sizes) mine is close to 20 pounds and has a great temperament. He doesn' t need that much exercise and is the most friendly dog I have ever meet. They are extremely smart because of both dogs in the mix. We also leave him alone for a long time and he is completely fine.

I believe a golden retriever is the best dog for you. Because it needs a lot of exercise and you seem like you can give it a lot. It can also stay away for about 10hrs.

I've got a mini-Schnauzer, and he's left alone between about 2pm and 6pm. He's just fine by himself. Plus, he doesn't shed.

To be on the safe side, I would call your Animal Shelter, & ask them, cause they can tell what is the best for you, & your hrs. They really would know. Good Luck.
