most breed registries consider a 4 year old a horse. Some consider it 5.

A foal is a baby horse under six months.
Six months it is a weanling
12 months it is a yearling.
4 or 5 years old is a horse.

A filly is a baby girl under the age of four. A colt is an uncastrated baby boy under 4 or 5 years. A gelding is any male horse that has been fixed. A mare is a female hore over the age of 4 or 5. A stallion is a male horse over the age of 4 or 5 that has not been castrated.

Colt- baby boy horse

Foal-baby horse of either sex

Filly-baby girl horse

A Colt will be a colt until it is 4 yrs old
A Filly will be a filly until she is 4yrs or has her first foal.
