Well, that door is an 20 year old patio door. Its a double sided sliding door. Very heavy indeed. The frame in which it sits in, is giving up on us. I can't hardly opening it nor closing it. We get ton's of cold air through it. Any suggestions of an easy and cheap fix besides having to purchase a new one?

In order to save money, I have moved my puter and most into my nicely heated 12x15 ft room. I spend 75% of my time in this room. I intend to leave the house furnace off and use only a portable effeicient space heater, is there anything I should worry about in not heating the rest of the house except in the evening when I am out there watching TV ? NO, the pipes won't freeze I live in Or and it does get below freezing but rarely below about 26F

i have a two-bulb bathroom light fixture. the left bulb randomly flickers, sometimes shuts off completely for a couple seconds. i figured it was a loose wire inside the light, but shaking or bumping the light has no effect. it can't be a fault from the switch to the wall, or else both bulbs would be flickering. any takers?

Here’s a puzzle for you: My downstairs radiators work fine, and kick a lot of heat. My upstairs ones, however, are only warm at the bottom, and are cold on top. I’ve tried all the various fixes I’ve found on the internet: Bleeding the radiators, bleeding them in a certain order, etc., but I still can’t seem to fix the problem. When I bleed the downstairs ones, water comes out immediately. Upstairs, I can bleed a bit of air every day, but no water ever comes out (and recently, I can only bleed air from the first radiator I attempt to bleed upstairs, nothing happens with the other two). What’s going on?

I’ve read that I might need to add water or pressure to my system, but I’m not sure how. The pressure gauge on my boiler usually reads around 10 PSI or so. I found a reducing valve (or feed valve, a Bell Gossett one with a lever), but I’m not fully sure how it works, since I don’t know which position is on and which is off; and I’ve tried running the system both ways and it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference.

Does anyone have any insight or suggestions? Is there anything easy/obvious I might be missing? I just bought the house this year, and the system is pretty old, but otherwise seems to be working alright (I just had a furnace guy inspect it a few months ago).

We have several corners of our wall cracking and we don't understand it. There is no aggrivation to this area, but it is happening in several corners. The house was built in 2004. We patched up one cracked area and it started cracking underneath the patchwork, busting at the seams so to speak.

Can anyone give me a reason for this?

I have a leak in my roof that I believe is a result from old flashing that has deteriated. I'm not really a do-it-yourselfer, but I got up there and slapped a bunch of roofing tar stuff from Home Depot around what I thought would be the suspect area. It seemingly has done nothing and I freak out every time it rains now. FYI- The roof is probably close to 20 years old. I live near Cleveland and the average temperature is starting to fall into the 30s. Is it even possible to have this done now? I know I need the whole roof replaced but I am just trying to get through the winter and will consider that in the spring.

It is a single oven which has the grill element attached at the top and I think this is what is causing the smoke. I've tried to clean it but its difficult as the grill element cannot be removed so I am not able to give the top of the oven a good clean. Do I need a new oven?

The smoke was coming from the vent area where the light bulb is. I immediately unplugged the microwave and the smoke stopped but I'm wondering if the microwave is a potential hazard and if I should put it outside in case it decides to catch on fire in the middle of my sleep tonight? I live in an apartment and I was thinking of putting it out on the balcony to protect me and my cat. Should I do anything else, call the fire department and have them take it?

I live in a rented home. Tonight I was sitting at the computer when I heard the only toilet in the home make a sound. I flushed it and discovered it was clogged, so I used the plunger. While using the plunger, the sink in the bathroom started to make a gurgling sound and I smelled a foul smell. What could be going on? What can I do to correct this? Should I call my landlord, hire a plumber? Also, is it okay to still use the toilet and sink? Thanks!

is the light switch suppost to have a 2 gold screw for the wire or just copper and silver? the wire also have a ground too but we have to use one wire and connect other ground around it because it wouldnt fit in the ground screw.

*** we checked the light, wire, breaker, outlets*** so nothing is broken.

My four-year-old son thought that he'd be funny and hang on the door knob of his bedroom door. In doing this, he has stripped all the hinge holes. What is the best way to repair these holes so that I can still be able to screw the hinges back in and utilize the same door? I don't want to have to replace the door. If it matters, it's a solid door; not one of the hollow ones.
