i have an article about a yellow air quality alert that occurred in Idaho and it said stuff for people to do and one thing was to mow their lawns in the afternoon when temperatures cooled down. why is that?

You must be in the Boise area? They issue the air quality alerts in the Boise area when the ozone level reaches some level that some bureaucrat determines is not healthy.

They theorize that if you mow your lawn in the evening that the exhaust is less likely to be converted by the sun into ozone.

For one thing, people won't be breathing so hard trying to cool down while working. I've never been in a yellow alert situation like that- but I do know that when I have to do heavy labor it is generally better to do it while it's cool.
