The only tricky part is that the box that was supporting the light is not a legal one to use to support the fan. You will need to pull out the old box and replace it with the new box (available at Lowe's, Hd, etc) which will be clearly marked "fans support box." Other than that just follow any of the answers that talk about replacing the box or take a look at the box that is in there now and how it is attached and ask any questions on replacement at the store where you buy the new one..

Not really simple do to, but here is how if you decide to try.
Cut off power to light fixture.
Remove light fixture and inspect to see if it's been anchored to a metal box firmly affixed to the ceiling rafter. If not, there are some other methods but they are difficult. Do not use a plastic electric box to anchor a ceiling fan. If the metal box is not firmly attached, use some additional screws (try drywall 1 1/4" screws, even if you have to angle them into the wood, using the nail holes in the box).
Assemble your fan, make your connections correctly according to the instructions, cap them off, then attach the fan mounting plate to the box. Once you do that, you can attach the fan to the mounting plate. It will have a bit of wobble, do not worry, it needs the flex because the fan has rotation and a totally fixed fan will eventually work your entire thing loose. The wobble, although slight, is part of of the fan design.
Turn the power on and see if you have the connections correct. Don't stand under the fan until you are totally assured it is affixed to the ceiling correctly.
A second fix, only for single story places, or those with access to the attic space, is to reinforce the box load by cutting a 2X4 and placing it across the rafters (usually 16 " on center) so the 2X4 will be a bit shorter. You should have room to nail the cross support though the rafter using 16d nails or screws long enough to penetrate the support by at least 1 1/2", preferably 2". Then, affix the box to that, again overbuilding its attaching to attain a firm mounting base. Then proceed with the process above.

Yup, very simple.
1) Make sure your light switch is off.
2) Unscrew the two screws holding the light fixture up.
3) Disconnect the two wires attached to the light fixture.
4) Connect the two wires to the fan. (any order cuz it's ac)
5) The ceiling fan screws attach to the same holes as the light.
It gets a little more complicated if the fan comes with lighting.

it's really easy to do. First, you need to make sure the bracket is able to support the fan. If the bracket is not strong enough, just replace it with another one. It is not that difficult to do. Both the mounting brackets and the fans come with instructions.

We did this a few months ago in our family room. If you go to Lowe's or Menards, they give you simple step-by-step instructions. They were a great help to us! Good luck!
