From what I can see from the picture, you have hit the corner a couple of times. The corner is usually a plastic or metal piece that has been mudded on to protect the edges from being damaged when hit. If you have hit the corner(dent on corner in picture) then that would have broken the corner loose. You would need to put some Joint compound under the piece that is sticking out to help glue it back down, then using the joint compound, remud the edge, this should take care of the problem. The house Will settle after about 3-5 years, and this would also cause the problem. Fixing would require doing the same thing as above.

Wow that looks like a shotty corner job...
Usually I takes YEARS for a house to settle like this, but depending on where you are at, it could be just the house settling and of course the foundation of the house. The soil expands from moisture and shrinks when it doesnt get enough moisture and that will cause a house to have slight movement and the walls to crack. Also depending on how the drywall is laid on the wall, it will crack easier.
You may want to check the foundation of your house and make sure that its not cracked (if its a slab foundation.)
P.S. If there is that much movement you may check into having someone come out to jack up the house. They put hydraulic lifts underneath the foundation and move it back together.

A few possible answers. Frost expansion because of water entry or shrinkage movement again The cement could have been too strong which can also cause problems. If the paint is waterproofed then because of no capping or copping to provide weathering rainwater can enter into the wall from the top. There is an old saying the Building industry. A good pair of boot, a good overcoat and good hat keep you well. Also in brickwork, Good foundation, good quality brickwork and Good weathering to the top. is the answer

This appears to be a stress crack. It could be from the house settling, which produces a strain, or from a seasonal weather change, causing expansion or shrinkage on the surrounding areas. Your best bet is to have a contractor check it out, as this will continue to happen, unless you seek professional help.

I agree with meyerhomeimp. Did the rest of you look at the picture before posting an answer? It isn't even a crack - the corner bead has just come loose because it wasn't nailed properly, or because someone smacked it.

Yeppers that has been bumped and it doesn't prove to be a bad nail job. Corner guard only gets nailed every 12 inches so it looks as though this could be nailed properly.
Sand the area down. put nails in where it is loose and reapply joint compound.

These cracks are most likely from the house settling. This is a common occurrence.
