My dining is room has wood floors and the wall are painted Monroe Bisque ( which is a light golden beige). I have a large dining room table that seats ten, and I have burgundy chair covers on all 10 chairs. I was thinking of doing burgundy curtains/drapes for my two small picture windows but didn't know if that would be too much with the chair covers. Any suggestions?

The tilers that I hired to do my hallway, in my living room, didn't finish the job. The customer service rep says he will finish the job, on his own time to make me happy. The tiles are paid for. 11 tiles, in a straight row, carpet is already removed. the last tile needs to be cut in half.

I am first time home buyer.

Is it advisable to buy an old house and renovate it rather than buying an already renovated house ?

I'm putting up one of those hangy things from IKEA for my son. Very handy for cuddly toys, but the darn thing won't stay up. I have used all kinds of solutions - but most of the heavier duty Rawplug plasterboard fixings won't work with a hook.

The latest solution is a heavy-duty ceiling hook. Yippee I thought - this is for hanging much heavier stuff, so the cuddlies will be safe at last... but it needs to be screwed in to a beam.

How on earth do you find the beam? (Have already tried knocking on the ceiling and listening to change of sound!) Hope someone has the answer...

Have new hardwood staircase that's already getting scratched. Heard latex backing causes damage/discoloration to the wood.
Any body know where I can get small stair tread rugs w/o latex or rubber backing?

So we just bought a flat screen t.v. I'm not into the giant t.v.s but we bought a 42 inch - which is big enough. We could put it on a stand or we could put it above our fireplace. I would love to have it on a wall (fireplace) instead of a stand, for space issues. My husband said you can't put it about the fireplace because people don't want to look up at the screen from a sitting position. What do you think? Where is the best place.

. . . and you start a nice, roaring fire, does said ghost just squeeze up against the interior of the chimney while the fire blazes? I'm worried about little Casper.

My wife and I have a house that is older and we don't have a tone of money. If you had only $1-2K for home improvements, where should that money be spend to get returns when we sell it?

We just replaced the roof. It has a fireplace (nothing special). Small bathroom upstairs and down - neither attached to the bedroom. Finished basement - but we ripped out the old carpet.
