I want to paint my living/dining room. I have two couches - one is cream and one is chocolate brown. My wood furniture is dark brown. My area rug is a checkerboard of cream/terra cotta/navy/dark brown/denim blue.
I have a large window at one end with cream coloured drapes.
What do you guys think for a paint colour? I am not afraid of using colour and I am not rreally crazy about just using white or beige.

I am removing the wall paper in the bathroom. There are 2 layers of wall paper.I have used the vineger and hot water method and also the DIF wallpaper stripper.I scored the paper first. Both products work equally well.My problem is only one layer is coming off at a time. Is there any way I can get both layers to come off at the same time?I don't want to get a steamer. It is a small bathroom.I just wanted to speed up the process. Thanks !!!!!

I painted my bedroom this weekend and when I lifted the plastic from the rug I saw many spots of paint, but they're all dried. I purchased some Goof Off but it can't be safely used on carpets. Scrubbing isn't very effective but I'm desperate! Thanks for any help!

Hello.
I would like to know if you were to upgrade your bathroom and have limited $$$ to spend, would you rather upgrade the countertop, shower wall and floor to marble OR to a frameless shower door?

Thanks!

I need to re-paint my room and I have NO idea what to do it in. I am moving out with in the next year anyways (hopefully within 6 months) and this room will become a guest room, so it would have to be a pretty neutral color (I was thinking a beige or off-white color) because then I would have more freedom with what bedding and accessories I use. My room is small so it cant be a dark color and I dont want it to be really just... blah. Any suggestions.

We just put new tile in the kitchen and because the tile is darker, it seems to make the cabinets look yellowish...I'm looking for suggestions for a color to paint the kitchen walls that will tone down the yellow.

I don't want something childish like one of those quotes that people spell wrong on purpose. I want something meaningful but also fun. I don't want just words..I want it to be long enough to go around my whole room or at least a big part of it. I have found a few I like but I was wondering if anyone knew any other good ones. they can be quotes from anything- movies, music, poems, people, whatever. let me know if you need more details. thanks:)

i'd really like to paint my small bedroom's walls a dark cobalt blue, dark purple, or dark chocolate brown because those are the colors that relax me and i feel they'd make the room more intimate and sophisticated (my furniture/etc. is modern, clean lines, etc.). i'm wondering if these colors will visually recede or if they would make it seem like a tiny cave. what are your opinions? thanks in advance.

I just ordered a new bed, and to keep from having to pole vault into it, I got the lower- profile box spring. Since it's shorter, do I use a full size bedskirt?

I'm 15, almost 16 years old and i love sports and movies like american gangster, training day, unleashed, and movies like that. I have a tv attached to my wall and an xbox 360 and a big desk right next to it. i also have a dresser with a regular lamp on it. And my bed is normal sized i guess and my comforter is blue with white stripes. i also have two wooden mantle like things where i keep some knicks knacks and my autographed basketball stuff and football stuff. What could i do?

hi everybody

we are planning on painting our family room & kitchen. in kitchen we have cinnamon cherry cabinets, brown tiles & brownish back splash. corian counter top has black, brown, grey & white in it but black is the dominant color. we are thinking we may need a light color as everything else is dark. we'll appreciate if you can throw some ideas around. so far we're leaning a little toward light brown in kitchen & family room, dark brown or maroonish on family room niche and on arches that lead to master bed & 2nd bedroom. you can see the pictures at http://community.webshots.com/album/561422598QctESi
i was initially thinking about green as i like brown & green combination. our exterior is green and doors are dark brown. but i'm not sure if green will go with cinnamon cherry. appliances are stainless steel.

appreciate your help

What r the most important aspects of hiring a contractor. Should I just go with the lowest bid, or does the bid matter that much at all?

Hall and stairwell are going to be painted a warm light yellow, eg. Banana. Should the doors and trim be painted a lighter yellow, a darker yellow, or has white trim returned to prominence? Or should I be considering something different all together?

I'm using a tinted primer (50% of the actual color) to paint our master bedroom, but the ceiling and trim will be white. Should I prime everything first, and then paint? Or should I prime AND paint the ceiling and trim, before I prime the walls?

I would like to put slate (or slate type) tiles up in my kitchen, but are they a nightmare to clean? Would they be very porous and absorb grease etc? I am assuming that the normal kind you would buy from a tile shop are sealed with something, but is that sufficient?
