My wife and i are decorating our livinging room. We have an offwhite carpet, tan couches, black hard furniture, and a very dominant rug of reds, rust and oranges. We are planning on painting an accent wall in a rust/red color.

What is a good accent color to use apart from the red/rust. We would like to add some color.

I would use a cool color like a rich blue or blue-green to offset all the warm tones.

Teal, absolutely! And in a shade intense enough to stand up to the rust. You'll LOVE that combination!

Edit: Now, how the heck does someone give a thumbs-down for an answer to a question like this? Have you ever seen rust and teal together? Guess NOT!
