Hi we were talking about removing what we though was decorative paneling in my daughters room and drywalling. But when we removed a oiece its not typical paneling it looks like drywall with some sort of decorative paper on it? Does anyone know what this could be. Could we just plaster of it? Thanks

Okay, the house I want to buy has black tiled counter tops, with the white grout of course. My money supply is low, low, low, so I was thinking of either painting the entire counter to match the black tiles (can you paint the grout and get a good result?) and then applying a painting effect to resemble marble, or painting the grout black and then using a sponging technique (with different colors) to make the counter resemble granite.

Again, my budget is mega small, so I'd probably not be interested in buying a new counter, but paint I can do. Is there anyone else who has successfully painted tile counter tops and liked the end result? Are there issues with painting grout?

Thanks for your help!

I have noticed alot of people really wish they could improve their kitchens. If you could fix/replace/rebuild ONE thing in your kitchen, what would it be?

(Mine would be my oven--it takes 45 minutes to heat to 400 degrees, since it is a gas oven. I need electric!)

In new home construction- I am trying to figure out how to not use a window covering on a beautiful oddly shaped window with am eyelash window above it in the kitchen. I want to have it look normal from the inside, but not have people be able to look in from the outside- especially at night. Any ideas?
Thank you.

Microfiber, chenille, microsuede, cotton twill? Something that dog hair doesn't stick to.

I'm registering for a sander since I'm the handyman of our duo, and I like to refinish things like desks, dressers, etc. (I've even done a small sailboat). I've done all the sanding by hand previously, but an electric sander would make things so much easier! What type of sander would be best for these types of products? Any suggests as to brands that are good?

In general, what is the purpose of an attic?

We were thinking of taking our 2nd floor ceilings and moving them up, hence getting rid of our tiny attic.

Or is there some reason we should be keeping attic?

We just got a condo dirt cheap, it was built in 1984 and per the city due to being after 1980 does not have asbestos in the popcorn ceiling. What is the best way for us to remove the popcorn? I don't want to place sheetrock over it and thought of a tin ceiling but don't have the time to shop for them.Any help/ideas would be appreciated.
