Is the std. plexiglass ok or does the non-glare stuff look that much better?

as long as u keep it out of direct sunlight.. you wont notice any real differences

Plexi will look great in the beginning, and may not get much abuse in a picture frame but it scratches really easily and that would distract from the art underneath. I was watching a design show, forget which, and they recommend if you hang art over a bed (I would also say a futon, or a couch that sees a lot of snoozing) use plexiglass...as a safety concern. If the picture came crashing down it won't cut someone.

Please don't use over something you want to keep longterm. If it is a treasured picture - use a color photocopy. A good rec if plexi or glass, sunlight over time fades colors to greenish tints... And if you have to put a photo under glass - use a spacer like an acid free mat - so that the glass won't adhere to the picture thus ruining it.

Correct about direct light.
Also, do not wash with amonia cleaners; will become 'cloudy'.
