A buddy and mine are moving into a townhome in January and we were thinking of making it into a bachelor's pad. We're college students and single so we wanted to have a place that attracts people to come over so I was wondering if any of you could give us some ideas on how to make it look like a good, true bachelor pad.

It's about 1000 sq ft. 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom; fireplace, "cathedral ceilings", nice kitchen, etc.

any ideas would be appreciated and some links to tips and stores would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I am trying to decide between 2 different dining sets, one has chairs and a table that have a "silver powder coated metal base" and the other has chairs and table with a "chrome base". Would one of these materials be stronger than the other?

Also what is a "vinyl laminate" tabletop? Is that hard or soft? Is it wood-like or material/vinyl-like?

Which is better - formica or vinyl laminate tabletops?

Thanks!

Hi,
I am building a house in Ohio. I am using carpet in all bed rooms, ceramic in laundry and bath rooms. What should I use in my open foyer w/oak stair case, kitchen, dining room and dinnett. I am really considering ceramic but my baby just started crawling(only kid in my house and I am planning on more kids). Tiles are cold and hard if my baby falls.
Thanks

I just moved into an apt and I need some decorating tips please. Here is the link to some pics of my place. I can decorate an accent wall in each room also. I'm thinking of a chocolate brown. To decorate, I'd love to use dark reds, chocolate browns, golds, yellows, and creams. Or something along those lines. But I don't know what to do...

Any tips would be fantastic!

Thank you!

here is the link I made for my out of state family so excuse the comments:

Ceiling is 96" high with medium size round light fixture in center. Bedroom has 2 smaller walls and they both meet at doorway, then 4 large ones. One of the large walls has 2 very large windows. I have 2 1/2 gallons of "Montego Bay" http://www.materials-world.com/paint-colors/pittsburgh_paints/pittsburgh-paint-12.htm
And I have 1 1/2 gallons of "Hypnotic Sea"
http://www.materials-world.com/paint-colors/pittsburgh_paints/pittsburgh-paint-23.htm
Both colors are at bottom right on charts. How should I use these 2 colors in this bedroom to get a bigger feel? Should I do all walls Montego and ceiling Hypnotic or? Any advice is always appreciated.

I would like to buy- cash out- a dwelling. I have a very small budget ($10,000. +/-) and 4 kids. I've heard of people buying kits for barns or even very large storage sheds and repurposing them for homes. If anyone has suggestions of something that would work for this, I'd love to hear your ideas... websites of people who have done so successfully would be super, too...

i signed a contract to have the windows installed in my home. They are custom made bay windows, now i wanted it changed to bow windows instead, they told me they can't do that because they already cut the frame/glass for bay window, i didn't receive the windows as yet still in factory..they told me i have to pay for the bay windows also for the installation even thought i don't want these windows, i don't know what to do :( i havn't paid for the windows, i dont have them in my home, why can't i just cancel it? or change it to something else, they want me to pay for the windows plus installation, can they do that??

the contents of a household of 5 -- including a storage space (the contents of his townhouse) ---into a 3 bedroom, 1 bath home?

Furniture first? Just pile it all up and then sort it out? How do I do this?

I think I want to set up storage in the basement first and then as things come into the house either they go to a designated destination, or they get stored in the basement.

I have talked to him ten times already this semester, my RA has talked to him, and I have even offered to have him come in my room and we could together figure out an appropraite setting so I could not hear the bass pounding through my wall. It gives me really big headaches and is so annoying. Do you think that hanging a couple of heavy quilts on the wall would help? Do you have any other suggestions? Please help, I am a really quiet girl and can't stand when people are so inconsiderate.

My mom wishes our house to look like an Irish cottage. We saw some people getting stonework done by an Irish company but unfortunately we forgot to write the name down. How would I go about finding people to do a complete renovation on our house so that it looks like an Irish cottage? Thanks :)

like most dorm rooms there is bunk beds. But i was wondering if i somehow got a frame to another bunk bed could i make my bed into a loft, and put my desk under it. I go to UPJ if anyone is familiar to their beds. They are wood frames but you can change the height. I was also thinking of using the dresser to support on side maybe. I don't know if anyone has any idea for more room or dorm ideas in general pleasse let me know!

My wife and I are wanting to remodel our bathroom. We want to have a huge walk in shower but, this would force us to scrap the tub. We have a 2nd full bath with tub. Would this lower the value of the home to not have a tub in the master bath?
