hey, i have the basment which has a wood wall finish, it is all around, from the living around to my bed room to a spare storage aread room (where the a/c boiler ect is.) and kitchen area. everywhere but the kitchen area is wood flooring too. i have a curtain as a seperater from the lounging area to the storage area. i was wondering what to put on the wall i was wanting a 3 or 4 piece art, on my wall or something just to have on there. the walls are still in nice condition and i dont want to paint over them or whatso ever. its just the what you call "lounge " area. i have blue couches that go there. it was originally a 3 piece "L" shape but i took the center piece and put it behind the computer/work area corner to watch movies or just when i have friends over because we huddle around the computer at times, but any idea's/ suggestions, thanks! here some pictures. its the wall about the blue sofa's. thanks!

The carpet is rather dated, and my roommates cat tore a couple holes in the stuff also. Would giving the buyers (if I ever find any) credit towards getting any color new carpet they want better than installing a color they might not like?

and I have an idea what colors to use for the walls and curtains, is there a website that I can see a virtual room with the colors to see how it might look before I start painting?

Please help solve a disagreement. I think the tiling should be done after the cabinets are hung. My husband thinks the cabinets should hang over top of the first row of tile. It is my opinion that my cabinet installers will not be happy if he does this. Anyone out there with the answer?

My husband and I are remodeling. We are taking down a wall between our living room and office to make one big living room. To have a good furniture layout, we will have to eliminate the current door into the office area. I would like to still have a doorway to access this area for better traffic flow, but the only space available for a new doorway is about 27" wide. Is that too narrow?

We have a double pane window with a big fog spot on in. We need to know if there is anyway to unfog it or does it have to be replaced.

I am having a new stairway fitted in my house. The stair parts are already coated in clear varnish but I want to use an Oak coloured varnish so that the stairs match the varnish on the rest of my skirting boards etc. I can't decide whether to apply the coloured varnish before or after the stairway is installed. I think it would be easier to get a good finish if I varnish it once the stairway is fitted but would love to know what the professional decorators do when they varnish new stairways as I will follow their advice.

My wife wants to paint them white. She thinks that oak is dated. I kind of see her point. I want to leave them natural though. They are light in color. Our appliances are stainless. We are going to paint the walls a nuetral green that almost looks like a light grey. If we keep the cabinets the natural color, what color floors (tile) and countertops should we have. I was thinking dark, like charcoal. I would like to know what you think.

Because of the hardware, I have to remove the doors, I want to paint them, all surfaces, all at once but can't decide how to place them so I don't ruin the paint. I think I should paint them all sides at once so the melamine paint seals all around.

If you do; does it run over ceramic tiles. I'm wondering if it would possible to run the crown molding across the tiles if the tiles did go right up to the ceiling. Would you suggest it? I'm just thinking of a way to cover an untidy wall.
