and I have an idea what colors to use for the walls and curtains, is there a website that I can see a virtual room with the colors to see how it might look before I start painting?

Tons. Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams.com is where I'd go for better quality paints. They all have virtual design rooms but you'll certainly want to get samples and apply them before committing to a color. Ben Moore has 5 dollar samples..good luck

you can also buy a test quart for $5 at Sherwin Williams, this was really helpful when we painted the kitchen.

You can go to behr.com, glidden.com, benjaminmoore.com etc. to find their paint colors and look at how the room would look using your colors. They are great....
