Well, first clean up the mess. You can try "zoning." Monday, spend 15 minutes cleaning up the floor. Tuesday, clean up the sofa. Wednesday, clean up the study table. Thursday, clean up the dresser (you have a dresser?). Friday, tackle the closet. Saturday, do the bed -- wash the sheets, air the comforter, turn the mattress. Sunday, rest and relax in your tidy room.
(-: It might take a month to get to the "tidy" part.
Once the room is clean, you can easily move the furniture to figure out how you like it. First, measure the room, and draw it on graph paper (1 square equals one foot). Then measure the furniture, and make little models (just squares where one square of graph paper equals one foot). Then, move your "furniture" around your "room" and think about how much space you have to move.
If your room is really, truly messy, checkout Flylady for advice on how to clean it.
As for me, I'd put the double bed with the headboard against a wall, put the sofa at the foot of the bed, then put the study desk on the side, maybe with a sheet to cover it when I am not using it (so it doesn't invade my dreams!!).
Good luck!
