Things I love to look at, things that make me happy. Things that are practical and won't stress me out with 2 teenage boys, a dog, a cat and a hamster. No husband, thank God!

It's fun to look and decide what you MIGHT want in the future. But my advice is to use what you have now and not spend a lot of money. I spent a lot of money on furniture and decorations for our small apartment and then we bought a house and I had to start all over because the things that looked nice in the apartment didn't look nice in the home. So, just keep that in mind while you look.

I really liked the television series "Northern Exposure," so when I moved into my house, I knew I wanted a cabin/lodge/Americana environment. I've decorated with a lot of moose, earth tones, trains, Coca-cola, etc.

Color. Pick a color you really like, go to a paint store and find samples and others that blend or contrast until you have a color combination that knocks you out, then go from there.
