If they are all similar in some way, like size, shape, etc. I think it woud be fine. It would be best if that room had a little bit of mixed-match everything to it. Like if the draperies weren't all matchy-matchy to the table cloth, etc. I think if the entire room is a little here and there then it can be pleasantly eclectic!

I think you should display your favorites.
Arrange them by color or by whatever pleases your eye.
I don't know anyone of taste who keeps all items in china cabinet the same pattern or color.
I have crystal; 2-3 kinds; some china figures - grouped by occasion - wedding, son's birth, a holiday; pewter, silver, and inherited items - turkey salt and pepper, trinketbox.
So, there is crystal, white, pink, yellow, green, blue, silver, black, and even a bit of brown and orange in my cabinet! Looks very nice in my blue, yellow, and ivory dining room.
I have gotten many compliments.

Most china cabinets have ridges in the shelves. The plates are stood up and the bottoms go in the ridges and lean on the back of the cabinet. You can also get some small wire stands for the plates. There usually hooks on the bottom of the shelves to hang the cups from.

no..not at all..DISPLAY AWAY!!!! for many years growing up i gave my mom a different place setting every year for Christmas. She now has many of them displayed in her china cabinet. I think it looks great, and i am an interior designer!!! not to mention its a great conversation piece!!!
i find that not having everything matchy matchy in a home makes it feel more comfortable
