Call local specialty appliance stores; many have repossessed appliances and second hand appliances which they had gone through prior to reselling.
Furniture: flea market, estate auctions, Goodwill, Salvation Army.

Consider going t oa goodwill store, or a salvation army store.
You can usually find really good bargins there, and your helping the needy. So your bettering the community while saving money.

Look on craigslist. Type in "craigslist newyork" or whatever your city is. Lots of good stuff at affordable prices. Good luck
