Ok, I have a cherry plywood (pressed wood) armoire that I want to repaint (white) to match other furniture. How do I go about preparing it? Do I sand, prime, and paint like I would with wood? Also, is oil based or latex paint better to use?
I also have a metal framed futon that I would like to repaint as well. Do I need to sand it? Do I paint w/ paint brush or spray paint?
Please, serious answers only! Thanks!

I have just moved into a new apartment that has a six foot wide closet in the middle of one living room wall. The problem is that this wall is the best place for my 7 foot sofa. And I don't want to see the closet behind the sofa.

I was thinking of finding the longest sofa back table I can find to put behind the sofa. And then putting one, possibly even two, rice paper screen(s) on top of the sofa back table. This should cover most, if not all, of the closet right up to near the ceiling. Maybe I'd add a slender vase with some tall vegetation (maybe pussy willow branches) to break the monotony simply. Maybe put an uplight behind the screen to add ambient lighting. Does this sound like a tasteful solution? Any other suggestions?

Not worried about "losing" the closet as I'll use it to store luggage and other things not used frequently.

I once saw an end of those home remodeling home shows where they converted an unused tub to a sitting area (HGTV). I missed how they did it. I have a huge tub by a window and don't want it. Condo rules don't allow me to remove it.

Anyone know of webpage where I can learn step by step of how I can cover my tub (safely) and make it into a beautiful and relaxing reading area? Any ideas?

My daughters room is always a mess! She has tons of stuff and a fairly small room. I have given toys away, tried to organize, but at the end of the week it is a mess again. I know she is 7 and rooms are usually messy anyways, but I also am not a very good organizer. Any organizing tips or ideas would greatly be appreciated.

She has tons of barbies and dress up clothes. Maybe adding more shelves?? The barbies are in a big rubbermaid tub right now, but it is a pain to figure out what is in there half the time.

Please Help!

I just moved into an apartment where the doorway is at its best 28" wide!! Isn't that ridiculous? Is there a minimum code in NH or anywhere that the landlord doesn't know of?

Anyone else have this small door problem with getting furnature in? Rent-A-Center is supposed to be coming today, I hope I can FIT some furnature in!

Here are some my ideas...
- Barracks Room. It would look like a Navy barracks room. Complete with the cheap furniture.
- The Red Room. Based off the Red Room from Twin Peaks.
- The Nature Room. Forest/Park. Blue skies and clouds. At night, the stars come-out.
What can you recommend?

I have a new shed with a wooden floor. I am going to be keeping my tractor and other garden type stuff in the shed. The floor is currently just plain wook. What kind of paint should I use to paint the floor with to resist, oil and dirt. I am also concerned that painting it might make it slippery. Any suggestions?
