I once saw an end of those home remodeling home shows where they converted an unused tub to a sitting area (HGTV). I missed how they did it. I have a huge tub by a window and don't want it. Condo rules don't allow me to remove it.

Anyone know of webpage where I can learn step by step of how I can cover my tub (safely) and make it into a beautiful and relaxing reading area? Any ideas?

What about the fixtures? Do they stay or are they removed?

All they did was have a piece of plywood cut to fit over the tub. then they bought a seat cushion

Box it in using plywood. Simply place a 4x8 sheet of plywood on top and move down from there. Then you can buy or make a seat cushion to place on top for a relaxing area to sit.

They used heavy plywood to cover the tub and used egg carton mattress for the padding. Cover it with inexpensive sheets sewn together to make a pocket cover. Arange some matching pillows and a serving tray.

I had a teacher who had a tub in her classroom. She put some pillows in there and viola, it was a nice place to lay and read.
