What I am interested in is covering the panel walls in my apartment with fabric. I think I remember seeing somewhere that you could actually soak fabric in magic sizing or spray starch and then place it on the walls and it would stay there, actually stick to walls. And if you want to remove it, you are supposed to be able to just douse it with a spray bottle of water and it will peel right off. Has anyone heard of this? Or done it? I cannot put up anything permanent, I just rent. I wanted to whitewash the panelling as I have done that before & it looks beautiful but landlord says, "NO!" He says I can staple fabric on it if I wish, but am really interested in the magic sizing or spray starch thing. Have tried to locate information about this on web with no luck, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

He reroofed part of the house and there are 2 bags of shingles left over and they are opened. He also bought twice as much insulation that can't be used...We have a lot of work to do, but if there is going to be that much overbuying and throwing it away, would I be better off to change my contract to labor only with us furnishing the materials????

I'm converting our H Bomb shelter into a Panic Room. It's directly under the living room but some 12 metres below. We used to have a 4 minute warning to get there but now it needs to be instantaneous. I thought of a Fireman's pole but anyone can follow you. Any ideas how to close it off once we've slid down? There's only two of us now.

We have beautiful white wood cabinets with stainless steel knobs, stainless steel and black appliances and currently, white laminate counters but we are going to upgrade to very dark (black/greyish) granite or corian counters soon. We have some red appliances that we'd like to use as accents (cannisters, coffee pot, etc). What color would look good in this kitchen? We currently have mint green (previous owners) and hate it. We already have a lot of red on the 1rst floor, so we prefer not to do more red colors.

Im about to start painting my lounge. Ive removed the wall paper and the plaster below was painted with a thick silky emultion. Unfortunatly some of this silky paint has flaked off in patches all over the room. Im going to try to sand the edges of these patches but am consious that they will still be visable under the matt emultion I am wanting to paint the room in. Does any one have any advice what to do about this? or id there is anything else I can do? Many thanks

Well we just bought a house. We are closing on Thursday and painting the base color the same day while my 6-month-old girl and 5-year-old boy are at school. Friday we need to move in, so we are planning to work on the texture after we move in as we go. Is it safe to paint with kids in the house?
