i am going to paint my washroom upstairs. previous owners painted the whole wasroom green... including the window triming and the door. i have to use a primer first to get rid of the green color ( i am painting the washroom in parisian taupe) .. do i use primer on the trimmings and the door ( i bought a special trim and door paint ) or do i paint it directly with that special trim and door paint?

the ol;d paint is latex based poaint and i have a latex based primer? is it safe to use?

If the color change isn't drastic on the trim, don't bother with the primer.

some paints have primer in them ,read the can. Make sure you know if the old paint is oil or latex!You can paint oil over latex but not vice versa,but they do sell a special primer to apply over oil so you can use latex. Depending on the colors you are using,most times you can paint on paint without using primer except when you are painting over stains or incompatible based paints.

It will look alot better if you primer first then paint . Good luck

givenn your situation and all that green ,you would be better off to prime it all then top coat it , a latex primer is fine..painting contractor

Probably won't need primer but could take two coats.

PRIME, PRIME, PRIME.....YOU WILL GET EXCELLENT RESULTS IF YOU PRIME FIRST. I EVEN PRIME ON SMALL JOBS, I.E. SMALL SPRAY PAINT ITEMS. THE COLOR HOLDS BETTER AND LOOKS BETTER WITH A PRIMER
