We rent a house and one of the bathrooms has no ventilation fan (I think this might actually be illegal). We open the window but the room still gets very foggy and there is some mold on the walls. The owner isn't allowing us to install a fan... are there any alternatives such as portable fans, or anything?? Thanks, advice is appreciated.

BTW: I'm Australian, so would be good if information was relevant. Otherwise i can just seek equivalents here. Thanks.

I accidentally got super glue on a very expensive, one of a kind wig
and I need to dissolve it!

I CAN NOT cut it. No matter what, cutting it is not an option.

I already tried acetone and nailpolish remover, and it didnt work.

I am panicking :(

What will dissolve it??

Hi,
We have a Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 washer\dryer which was working fine over the weekend but today made strange noises then when it had finished we opened the door and it was still full of water (whcih is mostly on the kitchen floor now!)

What do we do it's the first time we've had a problem with it & it't about 5 years old. Is there anything I can check myself or do we need to call someone out?

thanks,
Steve.

I've tried a few products marketed as 'book lights' and they don't seem to be particularly helpful for their purported use. I've tried the old clip on reflectors -- ones that you can vary the wattage yourself -- and they seem to work at least as good, and are more sturdy. Is there a truly good 'book light' that is easy to use, not cumbersome, and actually give you sufficient light so you can read for a couple of hours without trouble?

I was changing an electrical outlet at home with a new one and tried using the stab-in connections on the back instead. But since then I've read that the screw-type terminal connections are better and most electricians would recommend going with the screw terminals and to avoid the stab-in back ones. I've had such a hard time just trying to remove the back connections now, and the wires have broken off inside the back holes, so they're basically stuck in there. I asked a local electrician if it was ok to just use the screw terminals instead and he said it's no problem, the receptacle is still fine to use, although I could replace it with a new one, it's not really necessary. I know it costs nothing to buy a new receptacle, but for my own knowledge, is the outlet still usable if there is a small amount of copper wire still stuck in the backhole?

I just noticed mold among the soil for my potted plant. Does that mean the roots are moldy? Will this go away, do I repot, or will I have to throw out the whole plant?

I'm afraid to go to department stores and get totally ripped off but I think that's where I may have to go. Any sales or offers or suggestions? I have looked at Neimans already and I might as well be bending over.

Thanks!

I have a hard coal stove that is realy hard to get started but once its started it cant be beat.
I just spent 5 hours trying to get this stove going to no avail. i use Buckweat coal and i seen in an online forum that alot of people use what is called a mouse lighter it's like a bag of something and you just surround it with coal and light it,no muss no fuss.
I'm open to any sugustions i heard some people use a small propane torch to get tht hard coal started.
Thankyou in advance and i will pick a best answer 10 points :)

I am leasing a small home in New Orleans, and I don't really know what I need for it. This is my first home. My grandmother is coming to visit me and asked me to make a list, but I can't think of anything. So, what are the basic essentials I need that I can tell her to bring for me??

I'm an Interior Designer and I am working with a client who would like new carpet. I specialize in color consultation and have not shopped for carpet before. I found some carpet by Shaw that she likes - retail priced at $32.50/sq. yard - my cost is considerably lower than that. This does not include the pad and installation.
Is this price out of the ordinary (for the Seattle area)? Am I supposed to give her a percentage off of the retail price? With most items I just charge the retail price, but with carpet I wasn't so sure that ANYONE really pays retail. You know when you buy a mattress, or even gold jewelry - you can always find a 30 to 70% off kind of deal. This is a great client and I don't want to rip her off - nor do I want to cheat myself out of my profits. If you have read this far then THANK YOU!

I never understood this. I've smelled many flowers in my day, some do smell better than others. But in general, all of them have the same grassy scent. It doesn't stink, but it certainly doesn't smell as good as everyone says it does.
