We are in the process of decorating the staircase/hallway. The architraves and skirtings are from when the house was built over 100 years ago. We are wanting to strip the paint back to the original wood and varnish it so that the hallway looks brighter. We have been using a heat gun and nitro morse but it is taking weeks, is there any other way to get this done quicker?

I just found three small bugs in our brand new apartment. They are about 1cm long, have lots of legs, move sort of like an inchworm, are very thin with tiny light green stripes running down their backs and brown seseme seed like head. they also have a brown thing at the south end of their body. Any idea what they are, or how the heck they got in? need to know so I can tell the landlord, this is just number 35 on the list of serious problems with these new houses. Thanks for your help!

Hi, The walls (at the water line) and my filter covers are sticky in my hot tub. This green stuff (possibly a mold?) returns every time I scrub it away. It sticks to skin and takes a lot of soap just to get clean again. I use the Soft Soak system. How can I get my hot tub clean again?

Thanks!

I just installed a programmable thermostat and was wondering what temperature it should be set at to be most efficient. Below are my questions:

- What temperature in the morning (7:00-8:30) should it be set too?

- What temperature in the day (8:30-14:00) when no one is home?

- What temperature in the evening (14:00-22:30) when we are
mostly home?

- What temperature during the night (22:30-7:00) when we are sleeping in our warm beds?

I also heard that it is more efficient to leave it on all the time because the energy used to heat a house 10' more, uses more energy than keeping a house at a constant temperature, is this true?

Can anyone help me? I've been noticing a puddle of water on the top shelf of my fridge, the water seems to be coming from a small U shaped vent at the back. Its a slow drip. Also on the very back of the top shelf the water and some of the other food keeps freezing. I adjusted the temperature a little. Its still cold enough and food safe but the water keeps coming and its still freezing. I have a Kemore refrigerator with the freezer up top. No water dispensor or anything fancy about it. I think its about 5-7 years old(came witht he house). I don't want to call sears because they have lousy customer service especially for repair. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong, what should I check?

I have a rose tree that I've kept in a large pot all summer. Now that it's near winter in Wisconsin, what do I need to do to ensure it will survive the winter? Should I trim any branches? Should I put it indoors? Do I need to still water it?

I accidentally got candle wax on my wooden coffee table. It's got a gloss on it, so I was able to scrape off the clumps of wax really easily. But now I have this film thats left over and it looks nasty and cloudy. How can I get this off? Everytime I try and wipe it off it just smears. Help!

There is mold in my kitchen behind the stove and the cabinets caused by the leakage form the dishwasher. The leaky dishwasher was replaced by the management and they say they'll blow dry the area under the cabinets/counter and say that'll take care of the mold. Do you think this will help us? We are very worried that blow-dring may infact release more mold spres into the air. Do you think we should do this? The management is not ready to clean behind the counters because they'll have to pull down the kitchen counters for that.
Can somebody kindly advise? Should we consider moving from this place if the management says they cannot do anything for the area behind the cabinets?
Please help!!

I have a frame in my back yard that holds a porch style swing. It was covered with this nasty barn/shed style plastic roofing. I tore it off because I want to put up a piece of plywood and shingles that match those on my house.

When I try to remove the old nails, the head comes right off (they are some kind of galvanized, grooved nails with a rubber washer under the head), now I can not get a grip with the nail bar or the hammer to pull them out. When I tried to pull them out with my biggest pliers, the nail broke at the surface. Those things are really in there.

I am afraid if i just break them off and drive them down, I will constantly be hitting them when I nail down the plywood. (There are lots of them, like every 6-8 inches.)

Any advice? Thanks!

I don't want to spend more than 25 for them, and don't really care about the quality, as long as they look decent.

Thanks
