If you don't want to just rummage through the scraps bins at your local fabric store or eBay, you can buy pre-made covers. They are quite common. I've found them at Big Lots, Wal Mart, Target, etc. Just check a retail store, and bring along some measurements of the ottoman.

Well if the material you found is more expensive than a new ottoman you may need to find a different fabric store. lol. I like walmart or hobby lobby for fabric. It all depends on whether or not you really want to personalize it and have something you made like that, or if you just want it to look good and be functional. If the whole creative process of the thing isn't that important to you, I would just save the stress and get a new one. You can google do it yourself ways to re-upholster. My husband said it is really easy.

It depends on your decor/theme.
If you're into the country-ish decor, how about a quilt that you may have around or one you find at a thrift store?
If it's very casual, you could use an old table cloth to cover it.
Sometimes a high-quality sheet will work - they come in all kinds of colors and patterns and if the thread count is high, feel very nice.
Good luck.

Measure your ottoman and find out how much material you need. You can find upholstery "scraps" on Ebay for super cheap. You could also check with a local furniture company to see if they have any "scrap material."
Plus then you're recycling, good for the earth!
good luck~

Recovering and repurposing is overrated. Sell the ottoman at a yard sale or on ebay, and use the money to buy a new one. Or give it away and buy a new one, or throw it away and buy a new one. Either way, just buy a new one.
