I've just moved house and am in the process of redecorating the kitchen. I need to put in a splashback behind the sink and behind the hob. Because of the granite colour of the worktop I think natural stone tiles are going to look best but I'm not sure how suitable they are as a splashback as they're porous aren't they? Do they need special treatment to clean/care for them if I do put them in? Any other tips/advice?! I did ask at my local DIY store and they didn't have a clue...

I was planning to build a home gym in my backyard, so I need a shed to house my stuff. Basically, all I need space for is a power cage, heavy bag stand, and maybe a weight tree and some room to breathe!

I was thinking that 3.5m x 4m (so around 150-160 sq foot) should be enough, but I would need to level the area with a concrete slab as well.

I'd love to hear what some of my options are to build an outdoor shed like this. Is it possible to get electricity too? Thanks.

Is it like a huge decorating no-no to put a small rug on top of an already carpeted floor? I have grayish beige carpeting in my bedroom with black furniture & i really like this black rug and I'm wondering if it's a bad move to put a rug (albeit a small one) on top of a floor that's already carpeted? (Please only respond if you have something pertinent to say. Don't reply just to call me a moron or say "I don't know". Please. Thanks).

The inside of the pans are still great. I did put the pans in the dishwasher a few times, and they came out with a white film on them. Then, they started rubbing off to reveal the steel underneath the outer covering. These pots are only four years old and are professional ones (Cooks Essentials from QVC). Anyone know how to repair the pans? Anyone know the guarantee for Cooks Essentials? Thank you for any help you may have.

I just purchased carpet and had two sizings done by two differant companies. one company tells me I need 55 yards the other company tells me I need 72 yards. I have the company that tells me I need 72 yards because it's better carpet and cheaper. I pull tag off end of carpet to double check how much carpet they had delivered but it's in meters???? can anyone convert the meters listed on delivered carpet "366 X 01646 meters" to yards for me? other measurements on tags were "12.00 X 054.00 ACT-BAC" I think the carpet was 12 feet wide but what does the 054.00 mean? HELP PLEASE

I always mow my lawn for the very last time of the season on Halloween. I run all the gas out and put it in the garage for winter. My lawnmower NEVER starts when I pull it out of the garage in about May of every year. I pull on the crank and do everything I am supposed to be doing, but it never fails, it absolutely will not start and I end up hauling it in to the lawnmower man who charges me lots of money for whatever. How can I make sure its going to start next spring? How do I store a lawnmower?

My Metal baseboard enclosures are dented rusted and ugly. I could remove them sand them pound out the dents and repaint them but that is alot more work and expenense than you may realize. I have seen just the metal enclosures a lowes but I can not bring myself to spend the money. Just the enclosure for a 6 foot section for example cost about $60. The enclosure with the piping and fins cost only about $10 of $15 bucks more. Are there any other cheaper replacements out there? I thought about building them out of wood ( I probally have every woodworking tool known to man available to me) but I know the wood will expand & contract & eventally warp and look bad also. any suggestions???

My cat tore away all the weatherstripping at the bottom side of the door. The weatherstripping looks like a soft vinyl accordion with part of it behind the frame of the doorway. The door makes a seal up against it when its closed. I have no idea how to get it off, what I need to replace it or even how to replace it. Anyone suggestions?
